I apologise in advice for moaning but some things need to be said.
So many times I have checked on this site to find campsites that also offer fishing and I appreciate the majority of happy campers here could not give a stuff about fishing, however, some of these campsites that are happy to have their places mentioned on this site and are happy to have a little fishy icon in their list of activities available to the punters just is not enough.
It may be that the campsites do not even realise they may be listed on UKCS and it is actually UKCS that has added the campsite themselves to add to the info you bring to us but what is the point in even looking when I am consistently searching places only to find that some do not even have their own websites set up so i can find more info, fair enough its a personal choice or they may not see the need, but to not even come on here and add some decent information about the place is a joke. Some of these places that are stating 'fishing on site' have a trickle of a stream passing through or are a short walk from a river at best or even some poor excuse for a pond. If it is advertised as an available facility their should be some sort of info about it.
OK, they have a telephone number and i guess i can call them for more information, but if this info is witheld in the first instance there is probably good reason so why would i waste my time calling?
There should be some kind of a standard set, some sites are impeccable and the info supplied on here and also their own websites is second to none and gives you all the info you need without messing about, others are nothing short of embarrassing and we have to rely on people going and staying there then coming onto here and telling us how rubbish it was!
It is not just fishing either going off some of the comments i have read. If you have a business and you are aware that its listed somewhere online with information about that business, would you not like to have a look at it and check that the info being dished out was correct and true and if you found it not to be maybe you would do something about it?
I would be pretty annoyed to book somewhere then turn up and find it is not as described, 'fishing on site' does not mean you can bring your gear and stand there all day with your line hanging in a trickle of water catching nothing whilst paying the owners of the site for the privilege but it seems thats what you are going to be doing for a few of the places listed on here, some may call it false advertising, I would call it something else but if I did this wouldnt get posted.
