Hello there. Does anyone out there get involved with Geocaching? I am not a fanatic but find the activity very enjoyable and it makes a camping trip into an interesting 'treasure hunt' My two grand daughters have enjoyed many walks 'with a purpose'when camping. I download several 'caches' of the area we are travelling to and then we choose which to find when set up.For further information if you are interested go to Geocaching.com.It is a worldwide activity/community. I even found two when holidaying in Tenerife, (bit sad really!)

Yep we actively geocache wherever we go, on our fourth camping trip of the year this weekend, all specifically booked to incorporate caching.
I love Daves quote of not having an addiction but a lifestyle.... Fab!
Dave.... When's the next camping CBITD event?

Debs, we are looking at late September. We usually do 2 a year, late April and late September.
Currently we are looking at a Cave near Oswestry, once that has been confirmed, I can then confirm the camp site [I've already got a couple in my Virtual Brochure ]
This time things will be slightly more extreme than a severe decent/assent on a Incline, and a Pole Walk over thigh high water [I was the one stood in the water providing support ] in that it will be a high Hand/Knee crawl, with a option for those insane enough to do a belly crawl round trip
The Cave and the belly Crawl, are used by School trips, so are safe, unless like me, your on the large size which might prevent the Belly Crawl
You can see past CBITD events Here

I'm a pensioner and love it. My grandson(age 9) started me off on it. I have just placed my first cache in a local park close to where I live. It has already been 'found' twice.
In the process of arranging a couple of others in the same large country park. Hopefully will be all setup for the school summer holidays.
Geocaching is great fun and children love finding the 'hidden treasure'
Can't wait to take the grandchildren searching for mine.
I just use my iphone but the battery soon runs down.

Does anyone have any recommendations for campsites near really good circulars? We recently stayed at Irthing Vale, Brampton, and my son and I did a few from the campsite itself, then did a circuit GC5BQM9 that's not far away.

I have a facebook group that is for geocachers who like to camp. Its called Geocamping UK. Some useful info on there about where to find the best caches. Everyone welcome.
We like to combine camping and caching, it gives us something to do during the day, its free( almost) and healthy.
------------- On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.
