Hope you have a great time - we always go north in the summer, I am not that keen on the heat and it is easier on the dog!

Having said that, after our rainy trip to Scotland this year we are planning on France and possibly Italy (Normandy and Dolomites so not too hot) in 2016 but will leave our dog at home with our lovely pet sitter!

I went up to Scotland a couple of years ago - the Arisaig area - in early June and had fantastic weather. Someone on these forums had told me that May/June were the best times to go and they were right.

I don't know when you'll be going abroad next year but the Dolomites can be very hot in summer. That's an area I'd love to go back to but haven't had the chance yet.
