i did it as my main hobby for over 40 years ,made some substantial finds in that time .a few hordes ,9 gold coins enough stuff to fill a museum in fact .gave up 5 years ago but tried again last year and had to give up again due to dodgy knees and galloping old age .it can be quiet lucrative but is also full of a lot of very dodgy characters due to the large sums of money involved for good finds ,so take care ,trust no one .

We went to Dawlish and remember when the spring tides took down the sea wall? well it took all the sand off for 24 hours and a guy there was metal detecting he foud a few bits.He said you should declare them in case the owners turn up but it could be any obscure web page that no one is going to find.
