We're booked into Linwater caravan and camping park, east Calder for a week from sat 22nd July and looking for thinks to entertain the wife and kids (10, 4)
I'm booking a day at Edinburgh Zoo but I'm after advice for 2/3 other days out to break up days chilling onsite.
Cheers, Kevin
------------- Outwell Montana 6 with awning, Vango Adventure Tarp and a trailer full of beer
Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies. Train up to Stirling for the Castle. Linlithgow Palace. Edinburgh Castle, tour of the underground City Chambers, Dynamic Earth, the Radical Road (Salisbury Crags) and Arthur's Seat via the Gutted Haddie if you're brave?

I really like the Linwater site, although it's a bit 'in the sticks', so take your provisions with you. There is a park&ride at Balerno, Hermiston and Ingliston and this is probably the best way to get into the city. Parking in the city is hell, but for shopping, "The Gyle" is good and has plenty of free parking.
The kids are a bit young, but the Scottish indoor climbing centre is near the site.
The Almondale park at East Calder is nice for a stroll round.
Not forgetting the royal yacht "Britannia" at Leith.
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
If you park and ride for Edinburgh, don't forget the day pass on the buses for around £4 adult. It's very good value for money.
The children might like Deep Sea World at North Queensferry - train from the Waverley and you get to cross the Forth Rail Bridge twice!
You might want to think about doing your Edinburgh trips early in the week as the Festivals start on the 4th of August and there's quite a bit of build-up. Just make sure you're there for the one o'clock gun going off from the Castle (not on Sunday).
As for Falkirk Wheel and the Helix - check out episode 3 of Scotland's canals on BBC Alba as well as the Helix website for things for the kids.
