We are thinking of taking our caravan on a 2 weekvtour of The Cotswolds and looking for ideas regarding places to visit. We can find our sites although suggestions welcome, preferably adult only but where are the pretty and interesting places?

Bourton in the Water, Broadway, Moreton in Marsh, Chipping Camden. Plenty of lovely countryside for walks, anywhere along the Cotswold escarpment. Do you prefer stately homes (can't help with them), towns, country or a mixture? Loads of sites; we prefer the 5 van sites, are you a member of either club?

Hi. Thanks for this - I"ll look them up. I can find stately homes and gardens etc - it was the areas of The Cotswolds I was unsure about. Cheers.

Broadway is a really nice village with some quirky shops and loads of eating places. Bourton on the water is very quaint and definitely worth seeing with the little river running through and a decent range of cafes. Upper and Lower Slaughter have to be seen for their picturesque value but there is nothing there apart from the natural beauty and people’s very quaint houses. We also like Stow on the Wold because of a great place for afternoon tea. The Batsford Arboretum outside Moreton in Marsh is a nice place to visit with an excellent restaurant. If you like walking then get the Ordnance Survey map for the area as there are hundreds of miles of walking trails criss crossing the Cotswolds. We have done several sections of the Cotswolds Way and the Monarch’s Way and other national walking routes in the area. Burford is also nice and the Cotswolds Wildlife Park there is a nice day out. We tend to just potter around and see where we end up. There is so much to see in the area that you will be spoiled for choice! Our favourite site in the area is the CMC site in Broadway as it is walking distance to the village and has excellent facilities.

The Church at Fairford has the best Medieval stained glass in a church in England. Its well worth a visit just to see the round window showing the devil in red. Fairford town FC also is a CC site out of the Football season. If you like water sports it also has a water sports centre.

Broadway tower is well worth a visit, you can pay to go up to the top and pay a bit more and they will take you down a nuclear early warning bunker left just as it was when decommissioned, it really was an interesting visit particularly if you like walking as you can walk from Broadway village to the tower and back if you are reasonably fit.

The Cotswolds stretches from Oxfordshire through to Gloucestershire and there are loads of campsites within that area. Not adult only but one campsite I can highly recommend is the Bridge House campsite at Lechlade on Thames, Gloucestershire. Fairly basic in comparison to some of the more commercial sites but more than adequate and in a prime location just one field from the Thames and a few minutes walk into the town.

Another nice campsite is Bridge House at Clifton Hampden near Abingdon in Oxfordshire...right on the banks of the Thames.

Both campsites bear the same name and both are equally as nice alongside the Thames...the one at Lechlade takes first prize for me due to the reasonable charges...the one at Clifton is a little on the expensive side.

Mumsy100, you can edit your post within 2 hours (I think it is).

Somewhere else you may like to consider is Kineton ford (Kineton in Gloucestershire as there is another one in Warwickshire where I lived at one time). It's an idyllic spot especially if you are a fan of fords.

Just googled and there are actually 4 fords which I didn't know, we only went to 1.
