Went for a walk around Rudyard lake Staffordshire.
On a very wet and windy day .
Started at Rudyard Steam narrow gauge Railway Station .
Headed North on the Old disused Railway line .
Now a Recreational path for walkers cyclists ,less than 1K along came to The Dam and bridge over the Reservoir .
With a great view of the boats and the distance of the length of the Lake .
Conditions were very muddy and pools of water .
But plenty of visitor ,walkers about .
On down following the narrow gauge line beside the path arrived at the Huntshouse wood Halt:
To the Northern end of the lake.
Then out off the path to a lane to the outskirts of Rushton Spencer .
Turned round headed South following the tarmac lane .
Came out of the wooded area into open land .
Where the tracked lane wound Its way uphill to a distant farm .
I could see the Waymarker sign veering off to the left .
But also a Herd of Cows .....Drat sugar, On No
Decided to wait Even though blowing a gale and pouring down with rain .
Eventually most of the herd moved off .
So I went past the waymarker and path and under the canopy of the trees .
No sooner had I entered the woods when I spotted Cows sheltering in each side of the path .
Having no option but to carry on through them now .
Lucky for me they seemed docile and just watched me walk past .
Carried on uphill till out of sight of the critters then came upon a Old Gothic ruins of The dilapidated Cliffs Park Hall.
And Lodge house, an Eerie place .
The track, trail very rutted and muddy undulating through Reacliffe woods .
On down with many paths to choose from eventually arrived at the sailing club adventure centre .
With cafe and toilets and car Park .
Stayed for a while to take In all the lovely surroundings ,even though a wet rainy day .
Then over the bridge of the dam and to pick up the path leading back to the Steam Railway station.
Walked a nice 6 Miles very enjoyable circular day out.
With the weather been a nice 13C
balmy day and lot of afternoon sunshine.
Had another day out at Rudyard lake .
What a beautiful place .
Having walked from the Steam railway car park .
Headed out along the Old Disused railway track shared by the little steam narrow gauge rail .
Walked alongside the Lake to the far end and back .
Lots of people boating sailing and rowing boats and canoes Ideal conditions as the lake was like a mill pond.
On arriving back at the recreational area with Cafe ,carpark, toilets and boat hire .
Very busy
With all day visitors and the lovely spring like weather .
Took in the views from the Dam and walked down a path below the Weir along a conduit carrying the
Overflowing water away .
Followed a path around a nature reserve .
Onto a wooden walkway platform for viewing flora and fauna .
Then out to cross a road and back to the Steam railway area .
