I was lucky enough to win tickets to TribFest 2021. At first, having been in a shielding family, I was a bit worried about mingling and singing with a few thousand other people. I needn’t have been. The festival was well-attended, but plenty of space meant that everyone could enjoy the music and food and dancing and singing. I especially did. What a brilliant little festival packed with fantastic acts!
I have been to a few festivals in the past (Cambridge Folk and Camp Bestival) and I have to say that the musicianship of the tribute acts was top notch and I will definitely look to book tickets to go next year!
The Kopycat Killers were ‘phenomenal’ (sponsored by ukcampsite 😁 and many of the acts delivered performances that equalled or bettered the original groups’ on stage performances (AC/DC UK, Little Mix, Frankie Valli, UB40, to name but a few).
I think that next year I would splash out on VIP tickets, as for not much more money you get access to another tent of acts that we would have loved to have seen, as well. However, for young families, the camping and outdoor stage would be enough, I think, to keep everyone entertained! Most of the pre-watershed acts were suitable for children and there were special areas holding workshops and events for children to try out circus skills and crafty costume making.
It was a terrific introduction to a festival that I may not have normally attended. Rest assured, plans are being made to attend next year’s festival, with more people in our family wanting to come with us!! Word of mouth is the best publicity, and if a festival deserves to succeed this one certainly has my endorsement.
Despite the downpour on Saturday, the camaraderie between the campers who watched the acts in the rain was special. Everyone I spoke with felt grateful to be doing something that felt ‘normal’ but also quite special.
The organisers held a tribute to all the carers and frontline workers, as well as to the people who died from Covid or other illnesses over the past year. It felt fitting and genuine to remember them and celebrate with music.
Thanks to Ratty for running the competition, and thanks to Ed and Dempsey at TribFest! Save my space in the campsite for 2022!
