Hello, I am soon going to be moving to norwich for work and am looking at buying my own static caravan, and rent / lease a pitch for a couple of years. Does anyone know how of any sites In or around that area that would enable me to do this?

Any info you have on this would be appreciated as I’m a newbie,

Thanks 😄😄

you will be lucky to find ANYWHERE in the uk that does this, most of the sites will want you to buy from caravans already on site and then when you come to sell up will offer you a tiny fraction of what you paid and then just add charges for disconnections etc etc making it very very expensive to do.

perhaps you would be more success if you bought a large touring caravan and put it on a seasonal pitch instead?

Hello and welcome.

Alas, it does not work like that - you will almost certainly need to buy the static caravan from the park, as it is extremely rare for any park to allow "bring-ons" (i.e, a van that you already own being brought on from elsewhere).
You will own the van and pay a fee to use the pitch.
There are two types of static parks - one is licensed for leisure use, so you are not allowed to use the van as a full time residential address, even on a temporary basis (although many parks do turn a blind eye), the other is licensed for residential use, and has to be your main or only home.
The question for both is what you intend to do with the static when you no longer work in Norwich.
If you plan to sell it, for a leisure static you may only get back 50% or even less of the original purchase price, and for a residential one you will lose 10% of the sale price in commission to the park.

You may be better off trying to find somewhere to rent instead; there are some adverts on Google (no idea what they are really like) which seem to specialise in long term rental of static caravans, for people working away from home, people having major work done on their house, etc, so could be worthwhile trying some of them.
I'll wish you good luck in your search.

I’ve been on a number campsites where some of the seasonal touring caravans are used by people who head off to work every morning. That might be an option.

-------------
2024 = 20 sites / 41 nights. 2023 = 9/23. 2022 = 13/35. 2021 = 11/29. 2020 = 4/20. 2019 = 13/35. 2018 = 20/33. 2017 = 10/22. 2016 = 19/33. 2015 = 15 sites / 27 nights. Didn't count 1976 to 2014.

That suggestion from FionaW is a good idea, it has many advantages.
A seasonal site is one for touring caravans (the ones that you tow yourself) where you rent a pitch and leave the van sited. This is a method intended for holidays, but frequently used by people working away from home, and the benefits are that when you no longer need the pitch you can simply move the van elsewhere (or sell elsewhere), which is not so easy with a static.
You will have to search for seasonal sites that are open all year (or at least, the part of the year that you need it to be open for) and also make sure that there are no restrictions on how long you can stay at a time.
A google search brought up one 12 month seasonal site, and pretty sure there will be others.

The OP has only ever posted that one question in September & never responded to any of the suggestions. Doubt if they’ll reply, sorry.

Nothing to be sorry about, it's the way of life in most forums.

XVI yes?

As well is two words!
