Hi all I've bought a static sited in winthernsea I want to remove the roof and fit a pitched roof I've been looking around at materials etc would it be worthwhile and add value to my static? I'm looking to do a complete refurbishment in the future.

This is my first static do I need to inform the park that I'm planning this work I'm also looking to install french doors, decking, and I'm going to respray the exterior and try and get most of the work done myself.

Any ideas or experience doing such work and costs involved?

First - read your contract. It should tell you what you can and cannot do.
Usually you have to get permission from the park for ANY external alterations, and they may either tell you that you have to use their approved contractors, or ask you for details (including insurance) of the contractors you are planning to use.
Not all parks do this - some are quite relaxed about works, including DIY works - but as you are on their land, and they have to take into consideration the overall appearance plus any disturbance to other van owners.
If you are planning on a lot of work, bear in mind that you need to consider if the van chassis and supports can take the extra weight. You also need to make sure that your van insurers are happy about any structural modifications - you may find that they will not cover DIY structural work unless you get a report to say it has been carried out to a satisfactory standard.
Your comment about "wanting to add value" does worry me. If you are doing the works for your own enjoyment and comfort, then (provided you have the park permission) it is worth doing..
If you think the extra work will mean that you will make a profit when you come to sell - sadly, that is rarely the case when it comes to static vans. Nearly all the value of a static comes from where it is, not what it is, so the work you do is unlikely to add any value - sometimes in can even decrease value.
Do you know how long you can keep the van on site? And whether you will be allowed to sell independently or only via the park?
