Help. I wish to know of any caravan sites which are currently willing to accept caravans bought off site. I know that the vast majority of sites won't accept off site caravans. You either have to buy from those sites themselves or have your caravan already on a site which you wish to relocate from.
I'm simply looking at all the options available to me to get the best value for me and my family. Though I would prefer sites based in either Lancashire. North Yorkshire or Lincolnshire. I am willing to consider anywhere as distance is not an issue. Any and all help is very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

It's a real shame isn't it?
If I had the funds to buy the land. Place a nice bar in it. Build a pool and arcade ect. I'd be able to make a fortune taking on caravans bought off site. I know that these places are running a business. But you would think that someplace would cater for caravan owners needs a little better.

yes, but once youre full ....

campsite owners run a business based on making money. a good way of making money is to buy new caravans at around 20k and sell them on at around 35-40k, so by limiting the length of 'tenure' and not accepting 'off site' vans, they really have owners by the short and curlies !!!

- if you did have a site, I wonder how long it would be before you saw it from the camp site owners side or sold your family camp to one of the bigger companies ??

we have ours in France (with none of the age limitations, buying only through the site crap). neither of us work so it fits in with our commitments and lifestyle. the downside is we cant just clear off for the weekend !

MisterB1959 is absolutely right. Site operators (like most other businesses) are about making money, and they know when they are onto a good thing. If they can make greater profits by selling caravans, limiting time allowed on site, and charging enormous siting/unsiting fees, why would they allow someone to bring their own caravan onto their site?

Making £500 to £1,000 siting someone else's caravan, or making £15,000 by selling you one of theirs? (Which they'd probably still charge you to site) No contest!

Best Regards,
Colin

I have seen a sign at the holiday partk in St Osyth beach Essex stating they will take offsite statics. So worth investigating. 2 parks there so should be easy enough to google for info.

Open Sauce - Is that Hutleys? One of the sites is Haven I think and they definitely don't take off site vans

there are often signs along the a133 leading into Clacton stating 'bring your caravan to ....' - but I have never investigated how good a deal it is though ..

MrB and Colin. Thanks for your reply. I'm fully aware of the business side to these sites as confirmed by my 'I know these places are running a business' statement.
Thanks also to the others people who have replied. I'll look those places up. Not gonna hold my breath. But you never know!
I know that sometimes there are parks that are looking to look more attractive to the bigger company's out there. So they'll take on off-site caravans to fill up their vacant plots and therefore be more valuable to interested parties. I know that one place was doing it around 3 or 4 years ago. But it's been difficult to find anything similar since.
Even if I can find somewhere suitable. It's important that it is a holiday park and not full of residents just looking for somewhere cheap to live if you get my drift!
Thanks again for all replies!

Los Santos, I live in Clacton on Sea and can say that none of the holiday sites take off site caravans, not sure if any of the many residential sites do but that's not what you're looking for anyway. Good luck with your search

I disagree !! I have seen sites - weeley bridge on occasion and certainly Walton on the Naize both advertising !! they mainly advertise on the weeley bypass road !!

and I also live in Clacton!

Mister B, I haven't been following this post but have been to both the sites you mention in the last couple of months, neither takes off site caravans regardless of the signs on the bypass, of which I haven't seen any for months, yes there are van sides advertising caravans for sale but they are through the sites, Highfield, Firs, Valley Farm to name but three,
Regards

Just returned from Broadlands Park and Marina on the side of Oulton Broad, Lowestoft. They are taking statics from offsite and have large notices about this on the site but I am not sure if these are only from other sites. I'm fairly sure that their website advertises this.

Read the small print though, somebody already alluded to sites doing this to fill up which looks more favourable when trying to sell the site, and then new owners kick you off when the caravan reaches a certain age.

This is what happened to us. Bought a new van on a well known chain of parks. £34k after about a year decided we no longer liked the site. We searched for another site and found another site that said they take vans from other sites. Great we thought, so off we go to see them. Salesman..yes we can take your current van, we will even come and collect it. Ok says me how much? Salesman...We just value it then you can use that money as deposit on one of our new vans. Me.. but I just want to keep our van. Sorry he says but you have to buy one of ours, then we sell yours as one of our used stock. Once I stopped laughing I asked how much for a simaler van to ours? About £38k And how much for ours, its under a year old? £17k. We just walked out shaking our heads in disbelief. Sold our van privately in the end. Still only got £23k but at least it gave us enough to go to a site we really liked and haggle on price on a nice used van. I just dont think there are any reputable sites that take off site vans and if they do there would be catches thats going to cost you a fortune.
