Hi we’re looking at buying a caravan for/ on a no age limit site. I’m just wondering if anyone knows of any good quiet ones around Wales/ Southport/ Blackpool/etc..
around the northwest.
Thanks very much

Are you talking about a seasonal site or a static site? If you are thinking about a static site, whatever you do don't buy a static without a site to put it on because virtually all static sites will only site caravans they have sold. Very few anywhere in Britain will site one from outside. Also sites with no age limit are very few and far between.

If on the other hand you are talking about seasonal sites for touring caravans, there is much less of a problem as quite the reverse is true. Very few have any age limit.

Colin

Hi thanks for replying.
Yes I’m looking for a static site. I’d be ok buying a caravan on one but I’d hope to find a cheap one to be honest. We’re just after a weekend thing on a quiet campsite.

I don't know one personally as that is well outside my area, but my advice would be to find a site you like first and see what they have for sale. Statics are lovely, but they can be an absolute nightmare and it is very easy to get ripped off if you aren't careful.

One thing to be very aware of though is that if a site changes hands and your static is an old one, the new site owners might decide to have a clear out of all the older vans and there is little you can do about it. It really is a minefield.

I hope someone comes along who can be more help locally.

As Colin says be careful with static sites. I know of two families who bought a static each, the site was sold within a few years and the new owners wanted their Van's removed or upgraded. Buying and selling of staics is not easy and you're limited to buying from the site.

If it was me I'd be better getting an older tourer and siting it.

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.

The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.

Being told to upgrade or go is far more likely on sites that do not specify any age limit on the van, as these are generally on 1year contracts.
This means that the contract to remain on site has to be renewed each year, and makes it very easy for the site to change terms and conditions.
There are hundreds of people very happy under this arrangement, it can work well while the original site owner is still on board.
As above, the problem usually only arises when the site is sold or changes management - and sites are nowadays very big business, there are a lot of investment companies eying them up.
Just do your research and make sure that you know exactly what you are getting for your money - read the contract before signing.

you might be better off getting a large tourer and siting it on a seasonal pitch - of course you wont get the luxury of simple toileting but you wont get caught out financially later down the road .....
