There certainly is Helen! Please do be very careful as everything is very heavily biased in favour of the site owner. I have heard so many stories about sites changing hands and the new site owner simply tearing up the old site owner's contracts. Get legal advice about this sort of thing, and remember, not all site owners are completely scrupulous. They may do things that are not strictly legal, but it is you who will have to take them to court to get redress, and that can be very costly. From what I have heard this sort of thing doesn't happen in France, so buying a static there may be a better option. Buying one here and shipping it out there is also a popular option I believe.
one of my children has just got a 3 bed french style pitched roof van already sited, no age limit on site so long as you look after it for £5500 - annual site fees of around £2000 - its in France though !!
so you can get good deals .... to rent a 3 bed on site for the school holidays is around £800 per week, so for five weeks in the summer and two at easter, she is more than happy.
Great pity there aren't sites like that in Britain MisterB, I might even consider a static myself. Must admit though with the way things are in this country, I would even have one as a gift.
i am sure you meant you would NOT accept one on a UK site as a gift, and neither would I, well perhaps i would if the details were favourable, ie no rent EVER and no age limit LOL
OP/Helen - a friend of ours was selling some ex rentals in france for under £4k but they had to be removed, they were ok really and the site we are on would have taken them, It would have worked out around £6k in total inc transport and gate fees.

Absolutely right MisterB. I would not accept one as a gift.
