You need proper legal advice on this one. Personally I don't think they should be able to keep anything, especially if you haven't signed any contract, but I'm not a solicitor. In fact, I have no legal training whatsoever. I would be heading for the Citizens' Advice asap! Caravan salesmen aren't noted for being particularly consumer friendly.

Good advice but after our last experience with CAB there is no way we would ever take advice from them again as they nearly left us several thousand pound out of pocket due to incorrect advice and not knowing CRA 2015!
Which Legal Services gave us the correct advice and saved us several thousand pound plus we got compensation.
Hi all, just wanted to update you all regarding this.
We took legal advice and were told it was covered under the consumer rights act in our case (as suggested by a few replies on here so thank you for that)
No contract signed so entitled to a refund of the deposit and am pleased to say that we have now received that.
Each case varies depending on circumstances and contracts etc so just take legal advice.
I am so grateful to this group for your help and advice without which I would probably have just given up.
To anyone looking at buying a static I would say do your homework and be aware of the depreciation should you need to sell in the near future.
So glad it worked out for you in the end.
It is so easy to get swept away during the emotion of buying things, and it looks like you had an experience you will remember the next time you are deciding to buy something.
Take your time, and read those boring "
Terms and conditions"

Excellent news, and thanks for coming back to let us know the result.
The terms and conditions should be made available to every potential purchaser before a deposit is required.
I have certainly learnt a few things from this though🤔

Now you can instead spend the money on a nice touring caravan. LOL!
