Had someone in our static damage a light fiting - I'm guessing a ball hit the fiting, broke the trim and snapped or loosened the bulb off the mount.  Repaired with - get this - bubblegum!

Ohhh no fire risk with 240volts, are they mad.  A new bulb costs €2 at Carrefour or Michegen.  Or they are free if you ask on site....   Do there people live in deathtraps at home?

When it failed it blew the wall switch and took out all the elecrtics in the caravan - so a five minute job turns into a one hour to replace the switch.  Total cost to me - er... nothing actually just a few glasses of Rose for the site Sparky, and we robbed everything out of the IRM "spares" van that is slowly being stripped.

That is always going to be a problem with renting anything out.  Are they not required to put down a deposit?

LOL Brian they do, but bubblegum hides the damage/bodge from the "cursory" inspection carried out at the end of the rental.  Ho Hum.  I suppose the chavvy type drove off thinking Ha got one over on Siblu.  :)

Hi.We dont rent our static because of people like this.Their notion is ''well we've hired it so we'll do what we bloody well like in it''.We've heard some absolute horror stories from other owners on our site about what has happened in their vans.Just one example was an owner who let their van out to an elderly couple for a week had the shock of their lives when the site dutily informed them midweek that the couple had bought their 13 grandchildren with them also.By this time 2 full gas bottles had been used.2 full gas bottles =£100 and they only charged the couple £150 for the week because they felt sorry for them!
Do yourself a big favour and inform renters that their deposit will be forwarded to them in a day or 2 after a thorough check.
