unfortunatly i have been diagnosed with motor neurone disease at the tender age of 42, so naturally im pretty gutted.  I sold my Caravan and then folding camper as i could no longer manage it.  so to keep me having something to look forward to, i would like to get a static - only thing, is cant afford the £4000 per year sites seem to demand!!

i could afford around £2k.  does anyone know any ok sites say within a couple of hours of somerset, ie cornwall, wales, devon, etc, that might be ok?

thanks in anticipation

John

Hi John, sorry to here about your diagnosis. If I were you I would look into the possibility of a good sized tourer on a seasonal pitch, preferably one that allows you to keep your van on site all year. It will probably be cheaper and if you end up having problems with the site its easier and cheaper to arrange the movement of  a tourer than a static.

If you find a site you like the look of, its always worth giving them a call or a visit, not all sites that have seasonal pitches advertise the fact that they do.

have you considered across the water in france? we pay 2010 euros per year on a 12 month site on the vendee - if you want to use it as a weekend retreat though it would be too expensive travelling wise, however if youre there for a few months it might make sense?

our site owners allowed us to bring a van over from the uk and site it on their site, they still have pitches available - i think they charge around 1500 euros as a gate fee, but there is NO age of van restriction. no bar on the site but a 3 pool and slide complex - VERY FRENCH !!

We are on Isle of Sheppy and this year fees were £1300 - site is a little run down but if cheap and cheerful is what you are after it's good value.

Kennford International just outside Exeter, bus stop outside too so if you can't drive you can still get about. Both statics and seasonal.
