Hi all
I am a newbie owner of a Atlas Debonair 30 x10 static home
I am planning to live in it during the winter while I do my house up
But my question is what is the best insulation to put under the floor of my home to keep it warm
I have looked on many sites where different products are recommended.
But when I actually contact the manufacturer of the product they say that the product is nit suitable for this usage or that that it is been used incorrectly
Of instance...the thin multi layer foil insulation....people and companies are telling me to glue it and staple it to the underside . Yet the actual manufacturer of the product says that this will only prevent a draught and may encourage condensation. As the principle of the product is to have a 25 mm air gap for the product to act as an insulator
King span type products are also recommended . After speaking to them they said that none of their products would be suitable as they are exposed to the the environment
So where do I go from here ?????
Have any of you fitted a log burner to your static homes ??
Try spray foam insulation spray primer on the underneath, then spray fire retardant spray foam to the underneath, this will improve the warmth in the caravan 50 fold, vents can be left open to ensure circulation. We can spray a polyurea to the steel frame protecting the steel for a life time. View www.ukfoamflow.co.uk
Not sure where Matlock is, but a typical price is £22 per m2.
The bottom of the caravan is brushed clean of dust and debris.
A spray primer is sprayed on. Then 50 to 60mm thick of insulation is sprayed on. Pipe work is fitted to the underside of the vents that will protrude through the insulation. This is not a cheap fix, however statics that today are a major investment, this is a permanent solution, giving massive savings. On a house where we spray attics and cavity typically the bills reduce by 45 to 50 %.. Possibly won't be the same for a static, however the underneath will be permanently protected, cold floors a thing of the past. If you visit the site you will se a small sample block that was sprayed on to OSB board simpler to the base of the static caravans, it adheres brilliantly.
At getting on for a thousand pounds the wickes silvered bubble wrap is a lot cheaper and if you only intend using it for a couple of winters.People on our site seem pleased with it.
Hi we spray a foam made by BASF. it will ad hear to the underside of the static caravan giving it brilliant resistance to the cold plush retaining heat.
We use air pressure to clean the underneath, then spray a primer, then 50 to 60 mm of spray foam using a Graco unit. Then spray a paint thin UV coating over the foam, This product made by BASF is suitable and will last. I have consulted BASF on this particular application they have no reservations about its long term success. BASF are possibly the largest chemical manufacturer in the world.
For a 30 ft by 10 ft it's £690 inc vat, this product is air tight, so unlike stapling bubble rap no air gets underneath, The BASF PRODUCT IS A SUPERIOR PRODUCT, you can patch or use inferior products, sit back and say you have saved £300 or £400 but realistically you have thrown your spend on a product that will not match the spray foam or save you on heating bills. You will not recoup any of your investment from stapling bubble rap. Where spray foam will actually save on your heating costs. Because it's sprayed on its moulds to the caravan shape
Preventing moisture, damp, cold.
