Greetings to Everyone at the ukcampsite forum.
I am not really sure how things work at UK Campsite but I understand that it is considered good manners to write a post to introduce yourself to other forum members.
So…here I am saying a very warm and happy hello to all of the users of UK Campsite!
My name is Mark, I come from Birmingham and I have the pleasure of owning an Atlas Mayfair Super.
I bought it so as to be able to take a break from very long working weeks, but then found that it was the solitude of the caravan I was enjoying and not so much where I had it located.

So, I decided to have it transported to my home. Since it has been here in my grounds I have lived in it practically 7 days a week and have enjoyed every solitary minute.
There’s more to come. I did join you guys for a reason and I do hope to benefit from my membership. But, I hope that I can give back too and if that is the case I will be happy to do so...

..after reading through much your forum, I am hoping that you will all welcome me aboard so that I can gain from the benefit of your advice.

I shall post this introduction from myself then - and then ask for your assistance if I may…

Hi Mark!

Welcome to the forum. Everyone here is fantastic and will help out where they can. They have been brilliant when i have had any queries, there are alot of seasoned camping and caravanners on here, and are only too happy to share their knowledge and experience. Glad you are enjoying your caravan, as you say, its just nice to get away from everything and just switch off.

Do you have any long term plans to move your caravan to a site? Or are you happy to keep it at home for the time being?

Brum hey, not too far from myself.

Enjoy the forum and the people on it.

Hi Mark! Well I suppose it saves the site fees! It depends where you are of course, not so good if you live in a street of suburban semis, for you or your neighbours, but ideal if you have large grounds & you have planning permission. If the place is big enough you could even start your own static park for either holiday or residential use.

Its good to see that that some static parks are now allowing customers to move their own mobile homes onto the park & not insisting new customers purchase new or used statics from them at their own inflated prices. This would allow anybody to copy Mark's idea to place a static on their driveway, see how they liked it & then move it onto a park if they wished.

Or even start their own park if they had enough land & could gain planning permission. There are Park homes springing up all around where I live.

Hi Mark. Welcome to UKCS! How great to be able to put a static on your own land!! I come from your area but unfortunately cannot get more than a medium tourer on my drive. I had statics in the Stourport area for nearly 10 years until the floods of 2000 diverted the River Severn through my van. I then moved to Wolverley with my brand new "insurance paid for" van which I kept for 8 years. I now have a tourer on a seasonal pitch and a small (very small) tourer for when I want to go elsewhere.

Look forward to hearing more about your personal camp site!!

Hey thank you for the warm welcome friends, I was trying to respond much earlier but I kept getting a “Oops! Sorry! The Page can't be displayed!”, in big and bold green letters. I switched to using another browser though and all seems well now.

No Leanne I have no long term plans, my health has taken a wallop so short term everything is the order of the day for me at this time J. I intend to let the Static go and have a smaller tourer type caravan with mobility in mind, I am going to advertise on here actually, possibly this evening. My local council are enjoying their power over me at the moment, soon as I told them I spent some nights in it, I got hit with a council tax bill and they gave it its very own address which surprised me as it is only at the bottom of my garden and now that I have told them I no longer stay in it and it is not a residence they’ve told me to move it 4 metres closer to the house Grrr.

Thanks for the advice Jack+Jon, I’m OK in that respect, I’ve moved out of the city to take advantage of the greenery around here and I have no neighbours within view in 3 directions, just the smoky M42 in the fourth J. You are very spot-on in your second post here, people are being forced to come up with ever more imaginative ways to meet the rising costs of owning/using a caravan of whichever description.

I am glad that I’ve found this site and I already think I am agreeing with you Ian – and thank you for the welcome!!

My personal camp site ha ha - be careful what you wish for Ronni…anyone inviting me to chat is either driven mad or asleep within the first 20 hours or so J I remember those floods well, I came around the corner of the road we lived in at the time (west heath in Birmingham) to see my wifes car floating toward me in the middle of the street after the river Rea had risen to the point of flood.

Thank you all so much for the welcome friends…
