hi all
Has any one else had problem's with fly's in there static caravan.
I know it sited next to a lake even with the windows closed we seem to have a big problem. I know we were told by the previous owners to except a couple what we found when we moved in is one hell of a lot. Even with windows and doors locked they still seem to be coming in any suggestions. How about if we to fumigate would this help at all .hope to have some feed back. thanks Francine and Stephen
Flies look for dirt and dead meat upon which to lay their eggs. If you have loads of flies appearing look for the dead meat. Food dropped behind the cooker or fridge, even stains on carpets could attract them.
Personally I would give the caravan a good clean out with an antibacterial spray, hoover behind all fixtures and fittings and if they can be taken out and thoroughly cleaned behind it might be best to do so. Clean into all corners including hard to get at places like under the sink. What looks clean might not be so best to wash down all surfaces. Get the carpets, curtains and furnishings cleaned etc; etc; etc.
Then hang some citronella blocks or moth balls around the place which may help.
Check for leaks / seals on the outside waste water etc as well.

My feelings if the caravan has been totally shut down is that the flies (or maggots) were in there from the last time it was used and hatched out inside rather than having crawled in through tiny holes. I would bet on something dropped behind the cooker or fridge...or underneath, which might not be there now if the maggots have eaten it
They may be cluster flys rather than your 'normal' fly. If they do like the ones shown then just search on cluster fly killer and and you can choose the one you think would work best in the static.
Hi we have a static up the lakes, and some friends of ours had the same problem, we check on there van when we are there, and always seem to be finding dead flies, mainly in the bathroom, they seemed to be getting in through the extractor fan? hope this helps.
Just as an after thought, Do any of you Guy"s out there Know of any static Sites that are Fully Residential? we are on a all yr round site, but would like to make it full time? seems like they are hard to find Many thanks In advance.
It doesn't just kill flies, but provides him with endless hours of entertainment too. After a Pastis & une verre du vin, or two,it really is quite hilarious.
