Hi, I am also new on here and hope I am posting on the correct page. I own a 8 berth
36 x 12 caravan on a holiday park at Hayling Island and would like to move it to a residential site anywhere within about 100 miles, so I could live in it or rent it our permanently. I see the reply that suggests site owners usually want you to buy off them. My question is does anyone know of any residential caravan (not mobile home)sites or directory type websites that would indicate where I can find them, who will accept caravans that they do not own.
Hi mrken123, I am also new to this site, and am also looking for a residential site, we are on an all yr round site at the moment but it"s not residential? I would be Interested to know If you have any luck with your search, as I am not having any luck, Cheers.
Living all year round in a residential van brings with it a completely different set of rules than those applied to a static van and many caravan park owners are loathed to cross the line over to year round residential owners unless they have an existing Park Home Area.
The Static Van Owner pays more in ground rent but does not pay Council Tax.
The year round Static Resident pays less (up to half)Ground Rent but also pays Council Tax.
As a year round resident, you are not allowed to rent or sub let your van and it has to be you permanent home.
I know that some sites turn a blind eye to some of the rules, but if you choose to bend the rules a bit, then on your own head be it as these are laid down in law.
We inherited a Park Home a couple of years back but wanted rid of it. I was both surprised and shocked by the complicated rules and regs governing what I could and could not do with it and just trying to get rid of it was a nightmare that dragged on for almost a year.
In the meantime we had to upkeep it and pay all the insurances, council tax, ground rent, gas and electric charges.
It was costing us more than our bloomin' house and there was no one living in it.
We always supposed that a residential caravan would be a cheaper alternative to a brick & mortar house. Boy were we in for a shock!
