Can anyone give me some advice as we don't seem to be getting straight answers over the phone.
We are looking at moving our static van from skegness to somewhere in North yorkshire. We need to find out roughly what we would be paying and do any of you site owners have space and what are your rates.
Thanks

30 years ago it cost us £200 to have our static moved 60 miles.
I would guess it would be a tad dearer now!

Normally there is a charge of between one hundred and one hundred fifty pounds "call out" and a mileage charge, but it all depends on the contractor.

Our company (containers & machines) charge one hundred pounds to deliver locally and mileage on top.

Best bet is call some local caravan sales sites and see what they say.

Hello...Try to find out which company delivers vans to your site and ask if they could transport your van as a return load-thats the best way as they have already been paid to get there. Any "decent" company would reflect this in the price you pay. Couldnt comment on prices as the job is to variable and each job comes with its own set of requirements.Assuming its a 12 foot wide van..is in the car park and fit to load (everything works and tyres are properly inflated)..and is then going to another carpark--a SHORT move would cost around £350 + vat. 12 foot vans require a 2nd man..wider and you start requiring escort vehicles.Anything other than a nice level drop-off area and you start needing land-rovers or similiar to move the van on arrival.Your 1st problem will be getting your van dis-connected/unsited..very recently have come across people being charged £2000 for this in Northumberland!! and outside contractors are not usually allowed to do this.
Dont forget to pack your van for travel..lock all windows..wedge doors shut with cushions..tie or tape drawers etc..find a way to jam cooker and fridge etc in place..check toilet cistern lids-light shades..any loose furniture..remove any outside tv ariels etc.
I would expect the haulage to be around £1000 for that sort of distance..sounds a lot-but you are hiring a large specialised truck and 2 men for a full day and a lot of fuel used!
Assuming you have found a site to move onto..they will probably charge you for resiting your van unless you can find one advertising "free bring-ons"
Most people end up selling their van to the site at a loss and buying new at the site they wish to move to rather than go through the hassle..makes for happy site-owners
Good luck
