We have a 2003 Willerby Aspen and would like to replace the sofas, containing a bed settee. Has anyone done this and if so did you encounter any problems? TIA

One thing I'd check is that you aren't invalidating your insurance, as your removing something that could be strengthening the structure.
Thats right, As far as I know any fixed items ie: cupboards settees etc ads to the strength of the structure. Unless like one of our previous statics, comes with free standing furniture from new. Then I would have thought the walls are strengthened some other way within the framework of the van. There are fims that do this kind of conversions but as it looks like you are in Spain I cant recommend anyone there. You can try these people, they seem to do every thing from windows to complete refurbs. link
Because our static is new to us but a 2003, the sofa looks a bit oldfashioned, we would prefer a couple of settees but dont want to do any damage to actual stability. Maybe in the future I could have a go at covers or reupholstering but need to live in it for a bit first. Our first visit will be this next month and will stay for 3 months. Really looking forward to it. Thanks again Geoff.
My parents are in the process of doing exactly this to their van - they are looking to sell their old cushions which have hardly any wear if that would be an option?

I am looking for a decent set of sofa cushions for my daughters van, to save her having the originals re upholstered? let me know if anyone is removing their sofa etc please?
also I doubt that they add to the stability or structure as they are always fitted on top of the carpets just before the caravans are completed!
How did you detach from the back of the kitchen units please? Without cutting through the backs of the sofas we can not see where they are fixed, both there and along back wall. Do you by any chance have before and after pics please?
sometimes they are not screwed to the caravan but they ae fastened by use of 'staples', so you might not always find the screw fixings youre looking for. why areyou trying to avoid 'cutting' -if you don't want the units then it doesn't really matter?
have you tried sliding (by using gentle force) a bolster chisel between the furniture supports and the caravan wall. that way you may find any fixings
The only bolt we found was behind the small open corner unit at the end of the kitchen units we found no more it wasn't fixed across the caravan wall at all

Thanks very much . Didn't want to ruin it if it was not going to be possible to remove it in the end, plus we have to find something that will go through single door to replace it.
Along the side ,we got a modular corner suite from Harvey's as it's totally modular and you can assemble it to suit yourself, fits perfectly through the door .if you search images for aspen on google it will give you some ideas.
