Happy new year everyone! I am looking for a static on a site in the South Lake District. DD lives in Bowness and we want somewhere we can stay for weekends and school holidays. Site fees are very expensive up there and wondered if anyone knew of a site that is more like a farm or without the frills. Maximum 30 mins drive from Bowness would be ideal.
Many thanks for any advice.
Natland Farm near Kendal possibly? don't know whether they have a static to rent but may be worth a try. See my review, for a touring caravan. Basic but ok and has loo/shower should you need it.
Bigger than you are looking for, and I don’t know how prices compare, but have you looked at Bardsea Leisure at Ulverston? It’s about 17 miles/ 30 minutes from Bowness (except between now and Easter due to roadworks). There are 2 or 3 sites on the coast road between Barrow and Ulverston (just a bit further away) but afraid I don’t know details. There’s also Longlands Caravan Park at Kirkby in Furness which is a bit further away again - about 40 minutes drive.
The sites on the coast road are called Beacon Point and Seacroft Park. There's also a smallish site on Walney Island called Salt Marsh caravan park. Afraid I don't know any other details but I'm sure Google will provide!
