If you own your own plot of land to put it on (i.e. not a commercial caravan site) and you have permission to site a static on it, you have virtually everything in your favour to get some real bargains. Very few (if any) commercial sites in Britain will take any static that they haven't sold, and a lot of those sites have an age limit, quite often 10 years. Consequently there are a lot of static owners with a big problem. Their static is approaching 10 years old and they have to remove it from the site even though it is immaculate. No other site will touch it, they are all in league with one another, so their only option is to scrap it or sell it to someone who has their own plot of land on which to put it. This often means someone who wants to put it in their garden as temporary accommodation while they do up an old house, or a company who wants a site office. Consequently even some really good ones sell for £hundreds, as they are virtually worthless without a site.
Good luck, you could get a real bargain, but before you do anything check that you can get permission to site a static on any piece of land you are looking to buy. Apparently it isn't easy to obtain, although I must admit I have never tried personally.
As to what you can get for your money, I was watching on ebay once and I saw what looked like a really nice static go for less than £150. Yes I do mean £150, absolute peanuts! Such is the difficulty in getting rid of an unsited static. Often the transport costs alone of removing them are far more than they are saleable for.
------------- Best Regards,
Colin
