Hi new to this, we bought a static towards the end of last season in the colder months, not centrally heated, I was wondering if it was possible to fit standard household gripper, underlay and a better carpet than is already installed to make it a bit warmer and softer to walk on. Many thanks

yes, of course it is, though when they fitted the original carpets they tended to fit the carpet to the floor and then fit the walls, furniture etc straight on top so its a pain stripping the old carpet out.

if the carpet is in ok condition, why not consider getting under the van and insulating it underneath, if the aim is to reduce heat loss through the floor? it will prob be a lot more cost effective than removing then refitting new carpets, which could cause an issue of doors not opening properly, due to carpet height difference.

how about retro fitting heating - even underfloor heating can be fitted from under the van, though then having good quality carpets is actually not a good thing .....

personally i would go down the insulation route first - though be aware that most heat loss is through the roof and walls and if its been built as a 'holiday home' then insulating the floors might not produce the result you think you may get as there may be very limited insulation elsewhere ...
