Hi,

I would like some advice please?

We bought a caravan last year a Cosalt Resort 2008 (we thought it was 2011) 2 bed.

The floor in the bathroom was dipping, we thought maybe the floor had water damage, the dipping has now started in the kitchen both sides of the caravan, the living room and the bedroom - basically both sides of the caravan have started to dip. We called our local caravan repair company and they didn’t seem that interested and said that Cosalt resorts are known for this and there is nothing that can be done.

I just wanted other peoples advice on this? We thought it was water damage and it could be repaired but according to the experts this is a common issue with Cosalts.

Can anyone verify this?

There are folk on here who will know the name. But knowing if the firm that made it 15 years ago had a poor reputation (or not) won’t repair the caravan. And maintenance (or lack of it) by other firms since then may play a part. Sounds like you didn’t get a survey report done?
The BBC news app appears to confirm your earlier date:

May have been taken over by another business.

I doubt, even if it was possible, contacting the manufacurers would probably be of no use.

There's possibly a static owners group on the interweb that would be benificial seeking out.

Other than that a handyman might be the answer.

Hi Fiona,

Thank you for your response. I need to start by apologising as I don’t think I explained myself correctly. I’m not trying to blame anyone.

I wanted to find out if it’s true that my caravan is known to have flooring issues. I did not have a survey report, didn’t think about this at the time.

We are happy to repair the floor, but to be told it’s not repairable is a little weird, I was wondering if anyone else had this same issue, that was all.

Apologies I did not reply explain myself properly.

No idea about Cosalt vans, but "nothing to be done" sounds like somebody who is simply not interested.
There is always something that can be done - the real question is if it is cost effective to do it, so maybe you need another caravan repair man who is a bit more interested in finding out what is going on.
Did your caravan repair man go underneath the van and check the supports were adequate?
Missing, rusted or incorrectly positioned support stands can be very common and will quite often appear to be floor problems, and a van that is dipping on the outside sounds a likely candidate for lack of support underneath.
Assuming you are on a park, somebody should be able to give a recommendation for a firm that specialises in chassis and support work, and they may give you a better idea of what is causing the problem and what the solution may be.
