Can't find anything to back this up, either from .gov site or any other camping/camp site info, other than a facebook screenshot of this very same statement, sent to me last night.

QUOTE

We will be reopening all our Club campsites in England from 12 April 2021. Based on the latest Government guidance issued 8 April, we are pleased to be able to open toilets and shared washing and cleaning facilities excluding showers at Club campsites in England which have them, when we reopen on 12 April.

We are working really hard to ensure as many campsites as possible can reopen these facilities on 12 April, however due to time constraints and operational issues not all campsites will have toilets and shared washing and cleaning facilities open on 12 April. Please continue to check our list of campsites below.

UNQUOTE.

They then go on to confirm a long list of sites that will be opening on the 12th, and will have toilets and wash facilities open (but not showers).

After a quick chat with a (Private, not club) camp site owner in England, and them "looking in to it", they suggest this is a mistake, and refers to Ireland.
The latest on CAMHC for N. Ireland suggests that's not the case!

Confused!
Anyone else know what's going on?
Any links to the elusive latest government guidance from 8th April?

This has been discussed on another forum. A number of campsite owners are opening standalone toilet blocks but not showers.
Several have said they won’t open combined toilet/ shower blocks because they suspect that some folk will ignore the ‘Showers closed’ just because they can.
This would get the site shut down.

The C&CC still says club sites will re-open without the shared facilities blocks between 12 April till 16 May 2021.

Several sites, including the Caravan and Motorhome Club, have said on social media that there has been an update on the legislation and they will be able to open toilets and washbasins, but not showers, form 12 April. here is one notification that I've had:

"Update on Covid-19. As of the new legislation on 8th April we are now allowed to open the toilets and the washing up room. Please note showers are still not allowed and they will be turned off. Good news about the toilets but no so good about the showers. The date currently that they can open is still 17th May. We will still have to adhere to social distancing so some of the toilets and basins will be closed off. Thanking you all for your understanding in advance."

I suspect that once some sites start doing this many others will follow but some will take a more cautious approach.

It's interesting that the government must have changed the rules but not announced it, another example of poor communication leaving many at a loss as to what is the correct thing to do.

Sorry to reply to myself but after a bit of trawling I've found the relevant guidance here. It says:

"Campsites and caravan parks will be permitted to open for leisure stays provided that the only shared facilities used by guests at the campsite or caravan park are receptions, washing facilities (including facilities for laundering clothes), public toilets, baby changing rooms, breastfeeding rooms, water points and waste disposal points. Shower facilities should be operated so as to ensure no household mixing takes place. This would involve either assigning shower facilities to one household group/support bubble, (i.e. making them private), or running a reservation and clean process (whereby one household can exclusively book the shared facilities for a fixed time, and the facilities are cleaned between reservations and kept well-ventilated). Other facilities - receptions, facilities for laundering clothes, public toilets, baby changing rooms, breastfeeding rooms, water points and waste disposal points - should be cleaned regularly and kept well-ventilated and guests should try where possible to limit their interaction with other households whilst using these facilities."

Regulations or not I certainly have no wish to share any facilities and will stick with using my own until this pandemic is well and truly over!

Thank you.
That link was the missing piece, so very helpful.

I appreciate many sites won't bother, and I suspect many sites that can make (enough) money with "Own facilities only" customers, may well continue along those lines, and keep their facility blocks closed (and their workload down).

But for those sites that want to open up... with as many facilities as is allowed... then they need to get on the ball, as it appears quite a few aren't even aware of these latest guidlines, and are still working on the Mid-May date.

Thanks again.

Just realised...

Even with all the question marks, my thread title looks a bit mis-leading, and certainly unfair, now that the link to the latest government guidelines has been found.

If Admin want to change the thread title, I'd have no gripes.

Sorry, CAMHC!

I received a lengthy pre-arrival e-mail today from the site where I shall be staying soon, with the following information:

"FOR STEP 2 of reopening, and following the revised government guidance:

The TOILETS & SINKS will be open and the SHOWERS will be CLOSED"

I believe this came about as many have reasoned that public toilets at supermarkets etc. are allowed to open prior to 12 April 2021 etc...

However, I have not seen or read the said revised government guidance referenced in their e-mail.

Good news DK168.
Is that a private/Non-Club Site?

The thing is, the loos etc are there for those that want/need to use them. Those that don't can carry on with plan A, and use their own facilities in their own unit.
Got to be a good thing... just as long as everyone plays ball at and around the shared facilities, as far as hygiene, social distancing, and covid-compliant consideration are concerned.

The updated .go.uk guidance (Dated 8th April '21) was linked above, by chrisandsandra.

Repeated here, for those that missed it...

I would have thought showers would be safer than the toilets and the sinks. If you cough in a shower it will be washed away straight down the plug hole but if you cough inside a small toilet cubicle or while standing over a sink it will spread all over the place...and dread the thought of using a sink that somebody has previously spat in after cleaning their teeth

It's a private site.

I also found the same information on C&CC and CAMC subsequently (I missed chrisandsandra's post, sorry!).

Whilst not every owner will want to open up their facilities I've spoken to a few today are, how shall I put it, 'a bit naffed off' that the change in rules has not been made more public.

It's left them even more confused and uncertain over which way to go and they are angry at the amount of bookings they have turned down.

We were supposed to be at a campsite next weekend but cancelled when they advised us their toilets would be closed. We've just heard from them that their toilets will now be open but it's too late to change our plans again.

I wonder how many had purchased chemical toilets thinking they needed one in order to camp from 12 April 2021 onwards.

The government's change of heart/direction on 08 April 2021 may be too late for some, however, I have shared this information on FB in the hope that my friends who also like camping would do the same, to make it more widely known.

I checked and could not find any e-mail from CAMC with regard to this change, perhaps they could have done more by letting its member know!

their chemical Toilets will still come in handy on the small sites and rallies and who knows people may come to prefer them and how cheap they can be, soon get your money back using those sites.
