We have booked one 2025 site as it is to attend a convention and if you don’t book as soon as it becomes available, you don’t get a pitch!

We never book anything more than a couple of weeks ahead, and often only days. We don't even know where we want to go until then. Spur of the moment, that's us. Often it is weather dependent.

I am tied to school holidays... Weekends are fine to book at short notice as I'm not normally too concerned about the type of site for 2 nights.
I'm desperate to go to Devon/Cornwall next year and know it gets very booked up.
------------- Finally camping under CANVAS.

We've been there too, which is why now that we are retired we like to be spontaneous. You are absolutely right about Devon and Cornwall, it does get booked up very far ahead, especially during the holidays. We have just come back from Cornwall, but not with our caravan. Luckily for us my wife's sister lives there so we usually spend a week with her, but never during the school holidays these days. Far too crowded for me as I don't like crowds.

Did I know we’d be sitting watching a glorious sunset here in Galloway, one year ago? No, I booked it last week. Did I know, as the plane took off from Wellington in Feb 2023, that I’d be back again to see my only sister in Jan 2024? Yes, specific dates tbc.
Book a year ahead for a £25 pitch, no. Book a year ahead for a long haul flight costing more than £25, yes. Horses for courses.
That sums it up very nicely. We haven't been out of the country for years, and one of the reasons was having to book up so far ahead, which I hate. However, soon after last Christmas we decided to make an exception as we saw a holiday in Malta advertised and we decided to book it. We are off soon. Not exactly long-haul, but further than we have ventured for at least a decade.

Yep! Booked our dog rescue charity adopters camping w/e rally for Aug 2025 before we had even left this year's event! A whole year, all but a couple of days, in advance!
We like the site, the pub landlord (site is in the pub grounds) likes us, so saves us organisers having the rather arduous task of seeking a suitable new venue. I've sought out venues several times before over the years, and it IS really hard work to filter through maybe a hundred camp sites to find one that ticks our boxes AND for them to accept us as a rally group with lots of Collie dogs! - The dogs have NEVER been a problem in the past, EVERY site we've used has said what a joy they were to have staying, and we are more than welcome back - but some ignorant sites that don't know us are unjustly prejudiced against Collies!!!!! When everyone likes the venue, the venue ticks our boxes well, and the owner likes us and really put's himself out to accommodate us, it's a no brainer, just rebook for next year!
Under normal circumstances, mates and I would also be booking our June trip to Le Mans 24 hour motor race in France about now, camp site and ferry crossing need booking ASAP if you hope to get what you want from the options, otherwise you end up with the left over dregs, or even no spaces available! But a couple of our group have had some major health issues over past year, one's just had MAJOR surgery yesterday, and given only a 30% chance of making it through that (he did!), with then many months of recouperation if all goes well, so we can't make plans this time. All being well, this time next year, we'll be in a position to resume normal service.
Personally, not booked anything yet, but certainly have an urge to repeat what I did this year, and book a couple of weeks in the Lake District either before or after the rescue dog adopters rally in Aug, using the Peak District venue as a journey break for the normally near 300 mile trip from London to Lakes. I'll decide much closer to time depending on weather forecasts, as I did this year.
I don't have any limited holiday times as I'm retired, other than an OVERWHELMING desire NOT to be surrounded by holidaying kids, so try and avoid school holidays, or seek Adult Only sites away from popular 'family' destinations! Let's see what the year can throw up.

Yep two so far.
Lake District and back to Old oaks, Glastonbury.
We both have to book our holidays from work a year in advance to stand a chance of us both getting the time of together. planning is my middle name, it frustrates the hell out of my kids even now.
