Hi
Based in the north west, so time wise not feasible to go right down to the likes of Cornwall, but can people recommend sites that are really dog friendly? And don’t have loads of sheep right on the door step. I remember going up to a small one in Robin Hoods Bay that had their own secure dog field for campers to use. Thanks

Hoddom Castle just north of Gretna and not far from the motorway so easy to get to from the north west of England.
Great facilities and dog walking area.
It would be helpful if you gave us a time / travel radius because some of mine might be too far. I can think of lots of sites where our dog can be safely off lead in a fenced area or a “safe” area.
Silvercraigs at Kirkcudbright. Wooded hill behind the site, large mown area (with rabbits) beside the site for comfort breaks.
Rosetta at Peebles - dog walk through woods then mown paths meandering through a huge meadow of wild flowers, beside a golf course.
Lilliardsedge north of Jedburgh: dog walk around the whole site (not allowed on the golf course).
Kitk Yetholm site (near Kelso) is next door to a small river valley with the walk from Melrose to Lindisfarne, no sheep (but rabbits). Kendal CCC site is beside a stock-free field.
We’re currently briefly at Strathclyde country park - we’d been looking forward to off lead walks around the loch but sadly there are masses of geese grazing, there’d be carnage if we let the dog off.
Or so many sites beside beaches - many along the Dumfries & Galloway coast.
Kendal CMC site at Sedgewick has walks directly into the woods or linking to other public footpaths - not a cheap option though, especially at this time of year. Low Sizergh is a small site attached to a farm (with farm shop and cafe) with walks leading to the same woods. Sizergh Castle (National Trust) is not far away, with good walks too (though some sheep in places).

We often go to Bay View in Bolton-Le-Sands and although we don’t have a dog, I have noticed that they have a special dog friendly section in the bar/restaurant and there is a large enclosed dog field where dogs seem to be running around off lead. However, depending on where in the North West you live, this could be right on your doorstep and you might want something a little further afield. If you tell us the town where you live and the maximum distance you want to travel, you might get more suggestions.
