Near Haverhill in Suffolk. Asking the usual question, are there trees to the south which would block a Sky satellite signal? The answer from the site "I don't know, why not come and try it out" I would have thought she would know! Does anyone know please?

Apparently the "Helion" bit is Norman, unsurprisingly, and "Bumpstead" Anglo Saxon, from a river.

I looked at the satellite on Google maps & then “drove” along the road using the Streetview arrows. Looks like the site is across the road from the Hall (a few caravans in a field in the photo). It looks clear of tall trees to me, just hedges, but have a look (if no one comes back with specific knowledge).

after taking a look on google it would be very hard to work out if your going to be ok wth the trees or not, as their appears to be 2 areas where the caravans can go, to the left or the right so unless we know that then cant help you any more. i suspect tho that you will be looking at a replacement site?

Thanks Fiona and Marg. Yes, probably looking for a different site. I would have thought that the owner could have given more specific information. It gets good reviews on CAMC. We can't just "go and try it" if OH is expecting to be able to watch football.

I don't think I have found the right place, I can see 1 caravan on a diagonal slant. Is that it, it is it somewhere else?

By a farm, caravan at an angle beside a neatly clipped conifer hedge, field diagonally across from the Hall (which has a swimming pool in the back garden). That’s what I saw on Google maps. Maybe the CAMC location map helps.

CAMC website has a set of photos. Though you’re probably going elsewhere rather than risk it. More trees than I’d expected, but direction not certain.

Checked the CAMC reviews.
One says “ The field is spacious and charming with tall trees to one side and open farm fields the other two sides.”
Another says “ The large square site is surrounded on 2 sides by high conifers and on 2 sides by the high popular (sic) trees seen in the photos which along with a barn filled high with straw bales and a large trailer restricts visibility of the surrounding countryside. The photos suggest a pronounced slope to the site which is not the case. TV reception is reported as 'fair' but we found it good with our omnidirectional aerial.”

Thanks Fiona, yes, I read the reviews. There is a difference between getting a TV signal via the aerial and with a satellite dish which many site owners don't understand.
