Does anyone know the area of Norfolk around Dereham? We have been looking at a CL called Walnut Tree Farm, Swanton Road, Dereham, Norfolk, NR20 4PT but one of the reviews on the CMC page mentions road noise. Looking on Google maps, it looks like the site is close to the road but my question is, how busy is this road? On Google maps it looks like a local road but we have been caught out by one of these in the past where the local road, which didn’t even seem to have a number, turned out to be a shortcut for local commuters and the traffic noise began early in the morning and really spoilt our stay.

Out of all the reviews on the CMC page, it looks like just one mentions road noise but some personal experience from people here who have either stayed at the site or who live in the area would be appreciated.

You’ve looked at it on Google maps, further down the screen there are a 16 x 5-star reviews (the one 1-star is a fat finger mistype) plus photos One review briefly mentions road noise. Others comment on how quiet it is.

Yes, just read the CAMC reviews and only one mentions road noise. All the others are positively glowing. I would say go for it. There is always one...and please leave your own review.

Swanton Morely used to be an RAF base, but I don't think it has been operational for quite a few years. When it was that road would have been quite busy with personnel going to and from the base but I'm sure that no longer applies. The A47 is the really busy road in that area, as it's the main road between Peterborough, Kings Lynn, Norwich, and Great Yarmouth, but I think the site is far enough away that you would hardly hear it. I have friends who live in Mattishall, which is a similar distance on the south side of the A47, and I know it is not at all obtrusive there.

Almost any site we go on is noisier than being at home, as we live in a very quiet area in a well insulated home, so in a caravan we notice traffic noise much more on a site than we would at home.
