Has anyone camped at Oulton Park race track in Cheshire? We are going to the F3/GT Championships next week and have booked camping for the weekend (£10 per person ).

For the price we don't expect much in the way of facilities (and to be fair we don't need much as we are very well-served in our campervan) but the information from the circuit is sparse and would appreciate any information from fellow campers

I have only spent a weekend at Oulton Park when it has been superbikes, which I am guessing will be busier than F3. The camping area was just inside the main entrance on the left which is close to the paddock. The paddock has toilet and sinks - not sure about showers as didn't need to use them (but most paddocks I have been to have showers). There is a large bar which serves food but as you would expect is a bit pricey.

I've done the british super bike May day weekend 3 times - there are 2 camping areas for this, one is through the main entrance and over the brige into the centre of the circuit, the other (family area) is accessed through the eastgate entrance and is a large field at the end of the start finish straight next to the Avenue.

Both are good camping areas and you can watch the racing from your tent door.

The family area does not have any fixed shower/toilets but they bring in the large portable type with proper flushing loos and electric showers - very good.

The main infield area has both portable and the fixed facilitys of the paddock area.

Tip - Take your bikes with you, after the days events have finished you are allowed onto the track, some people walk round some cycle.

Have fun.

As I've told my psychiatrist, you can't have too many tents.

Many thanks for the replies.

We have just returned from four nights at Oulton Park. The camping was outfield, accessed via the East Gate entrance and we had a FANTASTIC view of the racing from our pitch. We pitched on the brow of the hill overlooking Old Hall Corner, Avenue, Dentons into Cascades and could see the cars coming back down the hill towards Knickerbrook.

Facilities were adequate. There were toilets (with plentiful soft toilet paper, soap, hot water and paper towels) and hot showers. The ladies remained clean throughout the weekend; my husband found the gents less palateable at times

Infield was Chequer's Restaurant which opened early morning for breakfasts and served reasonably priced food throughout the day. At regular points in the outfield were drinking water, waste points and bins.

All-in-all a great weekend's camping
