Day 1 is Leeds to Harrogate, day 2 is Sheffield to York, and there are literally dozens of sites along the route.

I had a little run out along the most northerly part of day 1 course at the weekend, just to have a look at Buttertubs and also to spot some of the sites I had noticed using the Site Search.

This is a really remote part of the country and the roads are so winding it can take a while to get around.  How they are going to get the cavalcade over the top is a mystery to me as some of the corners were wicked in a car, but boy, judging by the amount of cyclists we saw must be a helluva lot of fun!!

There are many sites on or near the route, indeed at Low Row the road actually runs between the 2 camping fields, so they have a very good selling point, and I for one will not mind paying a bit extra for the experience, providing site owners are not overgreedy about it.  After all, this is a once in a generation opportunity.  And if the weather is decent it is a really stunningly beautiful part of the world

Isn't day 2 York to Sheffield not the other way round. You don't want to be looking the wrong way.....I'm sure the crowds would get you looking the right way. Fairly sure the sites right on the route will be full and may be a plan to find one a short distance away and cycle to the actual route, if that's an option?
Day 1passes within 100 yards (ooppps metres) and day 2 within 3 miles of our house, how lucky just hope work are accommodating as a Police officer could well have to Police the route.

Have tried many of the sites - they are fully booked or are charging up to £100 per night - what a rip off. It is not fair to those who normally camp !!

As an avid cycling fan, I've been looking for somewhere, but will not be ripped off.....I don't pay over the odds in France, and most certainly won't be here. France here I come....

I've been looking for a few weeks and the prices they are asking is silly money. I live in the area and wanted to make it a weekend. But as I told one park that we've stayed at on a few occasions on the same weekend. I'm not prepared to pay for a weekend that in the past cost for all of us, and they wanted that per night per adult.
So we are going to camp at Waddington Air Show instead, £60 Friday till Monday at the side of runway.

Andy151 - that sounds really tempting. Do you think there'd be plenty to see from the site without actually buying a ticket to the show?

There are lots of temporary sites springing up that weekend so keep googling.
The tour passes through our village on sunday, and within two miles of here on saturday, so we are going to be a popular location for camping. Two temporary sites are arranged so far. Dont know how to post links (on kindle), but one is local football club www.nwcfl.com and other is tourdefrancecampingyorkshire.com. Or google Le Tour Silsden camping to find them. Route goes right past both sites on sunday, and Addingham-Skipton leg on saturday a couple of miles away.
I have no connection with either site.
