Oh, forgot to mention one of the best reasons for being CC members - the rallies. We were CC members for 10 years before we went on one as we thought they would be full of little hitler/hitleresses (see my previous post) but, thank goodness, they're not.

We've had some of our best times in a field in the middle of nowhere with virtually no facilities to boot except friends, a few rickety gazebos and half a vineyard (!).

I still stand by what I said before though.

A good wine, a good site and good friends - caravanning - c'est la vie !!

What I find bizarre is that almost everyone has a view on wardens.

When I arrive at a site, I book in (5 mins tops) and that's the only time I have any dealings with them, save for handing in any keys when we leave.

Therefore, I dont have any informed opinion about them.

Do you all break rules constantly or try to get them to be your new buddies  to get these opinions ?

The Big Sites Book tells you the names of the managers - so if you had problems with any in the past, you can see where they've gone.

They move round every two years, by the way, not one, so the BSB is probably pretty well up to date.

My husband was insensed and only just managed to keep his cool he was really annoyed that he had refused to help him.

In all our visits to C&CC sites, we've never asked for a site manager to help us push our caravan.  They have always been very helpful, directing us as we reverse on to the pitch (even to the point of telling us how far to turn the steering wheel).  They have found extra ramps for us and one even repaired our jockey wheel.

I'm pretty sure that pushing caravans would not be in their job description - just imagine if everyone wanted a push - they'd be knackered by the end of the day.

Hi Ronnie,
Like you we do not normally have any contact with the wardens only when checking in and out. We had booked a grass pitch but on arrival where advised to take a hardstanding due to the heavy rainfall, didn't really want a hardstanding but thought it was good advice. However, we where informed that we would have to move pitch on the Wednesday as all the hardstandings had been booked for then. Again wasn't too keen on moving for the last two days. Just want to set up once then go and have fun. Over the weekend the rest of the grass pitches were taken up with caravans so when a grass pitch right opposite us became available on the Monday morning didn't think it would be a problem to move then as we would have to move anyway and as it hadn't rained all weekend the ground was ok.   After much deliberation form the Wardens (Computer says no!) they agreed that we could move pitch. Pitch was right opposite so pulled it over, the warden came to have a look but said it was too close to other caravan (it was no more than 2ft) I do not have a problem with 20ft rule. We asked him if he could give us a push. We thought this was a normal request from one human being to another, didn't realise it was an act of anarchy to ask for help.I'm aware that being in any kind of Club means adhereing to rules, which I am happy to do, if I wasn't I wouldn't join. I would not want to be friends with someone so unhelpful. My philosopy is if you can't do somebody a good turn don't do them a bad one.

Regards,

Pat. (Sorry this is long winded I tried to condense it)

Hi,
It's ben interesting reading all your commemnts. I think I've said enough on this subject and its time to move on. Lots more good times to be had in my little caravan and lots of nice Wardens to meet on our travels. Happy caravanning to you all.

Regards.

Pat.
