blondiebags - if you need a site nearby so you can visit Longleat, try Brokerswood Country Park. There are reviews on this site and it's about 10/15 mins drive from Longleat. We stayed there a couple of years ago and are off there again at the end of May - lot cheaper that the CC site too

Longleat is a lovely site....the Tesco Clubcard deal is a great way to buy your ticket into Longleat....there is something for everyone......when we stayed in peak time we had no problems with kids playing....in an evening like on any CC site children where riding around on bikes but none caused any problems and the green is there for children to play on.....the fish and chip van was great lovely food. The best part for me was being able to leave the car and walk to the many attractions.
we've just book longleat for a weekend in june, really looking forward to it and I'm glad there is a bus to go round the safari park. Just got to work out if I can leave Jack springer in the caravan while we go round! Don't want the lions to take a fancy to him

You can't take dogs into any of the attractions.......but they are allowed in the grounds....plenty of space to walk them on a lead.........because the attractions are so close....what we did was go to one attraction then we came back to the van to see to the dogs....so they weren't left tooo long....we would then say have lunch and take the dogs for a walk....there is a dog walk on site which is enclosed or you can walk along the lanes.....this is best first thing in the morning or evening as then there is hardly any traffic......you will really enjoy the site....wish I was going with you.

Bit of an aside but as my geographical knowledge is akin to Practical Caravan's, I hope someone can help!
Would you say that Longleat was en route or not too far off route from Cornwall to Leeds? Thinking we could call in on way home... we are planning an overnight stop in the Cotswolds but Longleat could be factored in too...

Thanks :o)
It would be a bit of a detour of the M5 but certainly do-able. I haven't been there for years, but from my memories of that area, I think you'd be disappointed if you just stayed for one night! It's a lovely part of the country, and the safari park and Longleat House are really lovely.
