Hi

Been to both ,ferry prices to Isle of Man this year were a lot dearer than last time we went.Seems cheaper to fly and rent a cottage or a static, transport services not too bad if your near the main Towns.!!

Only been to IOW with the Motorhome with an all in Package with Red Funnel ,Ferry  Campsite (choice of about 3) for 5 nights about £102 ponds found it long enough to see all we wanted (No Children)

Have never been to IOM but love the IOW, yes ferry's are expensive but the last time we went over I cashed Tesco vouchers for the fare. For a fare of approx £90 cost us around £22 in Tesco vouchers.  And much nicer than spending in store!!!

depending on what campsite you book you can get some ferry deals. IOW all the way with me...we went 2 or 3 times a year as kids...oh not keen though so only been once in recent years. Never been to IOM so can't comment on that.

Which ever you go to, the ferry companies will fleece you, the prices are a joke for the distance traveled.
How else will you get there?

Well my extremely tight husband did suggest one year we could make a raft!!!

I cat say on here what my reply was to that as this is a family site!!

Just returned from 7 nights camping on IOW. Ferry cost 47 quid return. What a rip off, NOT!!

IOW, never been to Isle  of Man, but we live in ~Portsmouth, so have been to IOW many times, Robin Hill is fab - that is more than a day out! Black gang chine is great, the needles are good too, Ryde is lovely so are shanklin and sandown, the zoo is good, was slightly dated, but the animals are worth a look! We are hoping to get over there someitmne this year!

Sounds like I am outnumbered about my choice but as most of you haven't been to the IOM how can you say. All I know is that we have been on several occasions and even had our honeymoon there 50 years ago. Last year we returned for our Golden Wedding treat although we were not camping. We had an idyllic cottage at Glen Maye near Peel and had a fortnight of bliss. I have also taken groups of primary school children for their annual 'educational visit' and there are loads of things for children to do. I stick by my opinion. I have been to the IOW a couple of times but wouldn't go again. Matter of personal choice though and whichever you choose, enjoy it.
