I'm sure it was just wee and not poo but it may be worth mentioning that human poo is one or the most toxic poos there is and needs to be disposed of carefully.  It should never be left, buried or otherwise, closer than 65m from any source of water which implies that it needs to go down the loo or a proper disposal point if you're camping on a site.

Wee is harmless enough, particularly with all the rain we've been having this year washing it away but even so it shouldn't be thrown in the bushes but put into a "wet sump" which gets filled in every couple of days.

Take care

R

I've just been camping with a 3 year old and took a potty for the tent and had a nappy bin with lid (mothercare £4.99) for grown ups and 9 year old boys with no sense of direction) during the night.

I just emptied mine into the toilets or down the disposal.

Hi Sammy and welcome to UKCS..
I have learned lots from this site  (and from the experienced campers) having only been camping for a few years ourselves  -  I started off like you wondering how to make camping more comfortable etc...and asking questions about the very thing you have asked today!

We now use a 'Luggable Loo' which was £20 from 'Go camping' . It is basically a bucket with a toilet seat and a lid.. it has made our camping trip so much easier as we have two children...you can buy bags to put inside but these are expensive at £15 for 6 bags so we just flush in chemical disposal point each morning, clean and then disinfect . This works for us.

Hope you enjoy reading the posts and you can also search for previous posts as this topic is often discussed!

Never had to use bucket etc as wife rather insanely enjoys the 2.30 a.m. run to the loo and I get to escort her!

we had this problem of trecking to loo at night as it was quite far away over a very muddy field. so we found that  an empty ice cream tub with a lid came in  very handy and just carried it to be emptied in a carrier bag in the morning worked a treat.
