Whatever you do .................. avoid any destination that would mean you taking in the M25. Honestly it is a bloody misery, we always travel west and go overnight or very late/very early because there is always a hold up somewhere. Our record is nearly 6 hours from Galleywood to Swindon !!

Essex is well worth a miss anyway and I'm not sure that Kent has much to offer either. Parts of Suffolk and Norfolk are OK but avoid Yarmouth, Lowestoft as they are a bit grim. Cromer and the North Norfolk isn't too bad oh and Southwold is very nice..

Personally I wouldn't leave the south west but if you must do do then try Dorset (Wareham Forest Touring Park) or Scotland in general (Garavan at Oban) is absolutely beautiful, or Wales offers some stunning scenary.

A week in Norfolk and a week in the Lakes. I take it you've ruled out Ireland, loads of nice places over here  ?

Having said that, personally I wouldn't let a dog decide where the whole family goes on holiday - kind of the tail wagging the dog, so to speak .....

Paignton, torquay, brixham and surrounding area's are lovely,

was going to recoment a great site we stayed at, but  i see you got a dog n dogs ain't allowed which is a shame!

Just started looking for sites in Cornwall that are open in half term, never camped in October before, but think we may give it a try this year!

but i thought  norfolk  you have a variety of things to do and see,

the lake district  is stunning . you have so much lakes cycling walking scenery wild life ect,, you dont need to use your car but the only thing is the weather. and is is quite a long way.

Disagree about South Wales, you have Pembrokeshire, the Gower, Brecon area(south Wales) with the mountains, caves and waterfalls, Cardiff where there is so much to see and do, Abergavenny in a lovely position with its surrounding mountains, Hay on Wye, the Black Mountains, Carmarthen Fans (more mountains), the Valleys (Rhondda etc) have plenty of interest in themselves.

No don't do it, don't go to Norfolk.

 Sorry peeps who live there, even though we've been many times and are going there for New Year, there maybe lots of nice places but they are used to Cornwall and in my opinion  Norfolk could never compare.

Hi there, depending on what you're looking for, Humble Bee Farm near Scarborough is an idylic farm in a valley with nothing but the basics, very clean and bloody good quality basics but the site is gorgous.  It has spaces for caravans, tents and they have these lovely wigwams which are wooden huts kitted out with a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster and also has a gas BBQ outside!   You can collect fresh eggs from the hen houses and cook them for breakfast!  So twee but sums up the atmosphere of this lazy site.

The site is only 10 minutes away from Scarborough, even closer to Filey and has loads of other attractions within reach.  Dalby forest is gorgous - has 'Go Ape' where you go through a course made in the trees and fly down zip wires etc.  Flamingo land isn't too far away too.
