The West Midlands has loads to offer and is really central for lots of other places.
Beautiful countryside, Wyre forest, River Severn and valley, Steam railway, safari park, stately homes, walks, canals, good pubs, Stourport canal network, near to Long Mynd, Bridgenorth, Black Country Museum, little villages. Good campsites. No beaches though.
By the end of this thread I bet the whole of the country will have been covered.
What a great and beautiful country we live in.

Thanks so much everyone for all your suggestions so far.
You've given us loads of geat ideas to look into and ponder over!
Will keep you posted as to where we shortlist and eventually decide to go!
Just started looking for sites in Cornwall that are open in half term, never camped in October before, but think we may give it a try this year!
Thanks again, and keep your suggestions coming!!

Disagree about South Wales, you have Pembrokeshire, the Gower, Brecon area(south Wales) with the mountains, caves and waterfalls, Cardiff where there is so much to see and do, Abergavenny in a lovely position with its surrounding mountains, Hay on Wye, the Black Mountains, Carmarthen Fans (more mountains), the Valleys (Rhondda etc) have plenty of interest in themselves.
