There is a CC CL at Douglas water, very close to the A74 under the name of MRS M. DUNLOP . This is 250 miles from Wolverhampton and 140 miles from Fort William. I have never stayed on or been there but it is spot on the distances and times that you want.

does anyone know where we could have an overnight stop on the M6 Between Carlisle and Glasgow, perhaps one of the services provide overnight accomodation for car and caravan.

we are considering travelling to inverness and we are going mid afternoon arriving late night somewhere for an overnight stop leaving about 3 hrs the following day to get to Fort William area.

any ideas

We too will need to make use of a service station on our trip to Oban for Easter as we will be leaving home early evening and will be stopping too late to use a site. We have used service stations in the UK with no problems so would be interested in peoples experiences north of the border. Most of the suggestions here have been for caravan parks which do not allow arrivals after 8.00pm (mostly).

Ive stopped at Tebay Services on M6 and it's OK for an 'overnighter'.  There's a proper caravan park away from the other traffic, with EHUs.

Hi Charles, yes thank you i know about Westmoorland Caravan Site at Tebay services but its too close to us at under 2 hours. They also allow for late arrivals but we need to travel 3/4  hours to leave only a journey of a couple of hours to Oban.

Think we will use Happenden services- hubby has used the services for a quick stop but not for an overnight stop in the caravan. It gets an ok review on www.motorwayparkingforcaravans.co.uk so we'll give it a try.
