I agree with the last post, however, I do often wonder on some of the bigger sites over several fields, why site owners don't allot pitches differently, i.e. put families nearer to play areas, than couples pitch familes with similar age children together, I've seen many a child fed up as their new found friends are a field or 2 away, or couples surrounded by families with excited energetic children.

I doubt it would work all of the time but might make a difference some of the time, maybe requests with bookings may help

Beadnell Bay in Northumberland does something like this with a families field, a couples field, and (I think) a mixed - seemed to work pretty well.

Very true, but please don't stop the arguing in the daytime, I've spent many happy minutes earwigging in on peoples rows! you hear EVERY word, the one last weekend was a couple having a rather heated debate about sausages!

This weekend just gone our neighbours started up their car (diesel of course!) at 5am and left it ticking over for a while before (finally) leaving for a day out.  I could hear it even though we were in the caravan not a tent and I was wearing ear plugs. 

However according to my brother who was staying in his tent on the pitch next to us. without ear plugs, they also had a heated row before leaving so at least I was spared that.

I agree with the no noise rule after 11pm and also try to be quiet until about 8am. But try telling that to my 9 month old granddaughter, who on her first camping trip last weekend was dad dad dading and mum mum muming at the top her her little voice at 5.30 am. she didn't understand the sshhs from her mum.  What can you do then?

I'd say your 9 month old granddaughter can't really be expected to know any better; kids will be kids and most people understand and are willing to make allowances on things like this, within reason .

It's the blatant disregard for other people that I object to. We spent a lovely 4 nights at the most perfect campsite in North Devon recently, marred only by a group of 2 families in the tent opposite who were playing a DVD so loud one night when we got back that half the campsite could hear it. It wasn't even particulalry late, but the volume was excessive and it went on for an hour an a half! If I'd wanted to hear a film in surround sound I would have gone to a cinema, not a campsite! I just can't undertand this mentality and would be mortified if I thought anyone was offended by me making noise.

I agree, there's not much you can do about normal baby noises.

 It's so annoying though when the campsite owners dont do anything about late night noise. A family behind us also had 2 young children, quite noisy as you would expect, but the parents talking in loud voices at midnight and very early in the morning was very annoying, dont think they'd been camping before, they kept us awake till the early hours, I could hear every word they said. Also had 2 small yappy dogs tied up outside their tent that barked constantly every time anything moved near them, no control whatsoever!!

Well, you could stick her in the buggy and go for a walk away from the tents...

the people next to us had a little one and what seemed to work was playing with him rather than trying to keep him quiet... quiet playing was a lot less intrusive than if he'd been shouting and they'd been shushing if you see what I mean.   When he got loud though we noticed that they took him out of the tent in his buggy.
