I have one, possibly silly question:  Is it not possible to limit the current draw at the local connection point by installing an appropriately rated breaker? 

If a site advertises a 5A hookup (for example - I have no idea if that's reasonable or not), surely the site should ensure their supply can cope with the cumulative maximum demand without tripping? 

It is entirely possible I am missing something!

I'm pretty sure it would take less electricty to heat a caravn than a tent.  The caravan has insulation, designed to keep the heat in, as opposed to the constant loss through the sides of the tent.

That is a very low.  Most are about 10 amp and the maximum I have been on are 16 amp.. The key thing is to stop the electric tripping is to monitor the amperage of your electrical items.  If you have lots of items on and exceed the sites  limit then the whole site or at least a secion of the site will be minus leckii  So inother words one pitch that overloads knocls out the majority of the others.

If you do not want ehu at fforest fields you pay less, as for the site first class and if that is their site rules campers and caravanners take their own choice if they stay there or not.

I just wonder with all these terrible sites out there why people want to pick pieces out of a well run site, the mind boggles.

one of the reasons people have ehu is to extend their camping season.  Amongst other reasons.  I am starting to get a little loss, put me on the right track, while trying to work out.  Is the reason against ehu:

  Is it because people have too many electrical items on at the same time, thus tripping the switch?

Having a fan heater per se? or having a fan heater on while not in the tent for hours on end and open to abuse.

  If it's a fan heater per se, for me thats one of reason why have ehu, as I feel it's safer, but do have a gas heater. which I use, in  the same way as fan heater. but with an electrical heater it can be used safetly in the bedroom pod.  Which I can't with gas. because the gas heater is in the main living area,

 to switch it on, have to insert a gas cannister. which is taken out when not in use for safety reasons.

Or can have electric fan heater, just dont abuse it,   well what I mean don,t have it on 24 hrs a day
