I think a small plant or bush to mark the corners would be more in keeping with a grassed area than slabs.  May need a bit of maintenance but would look better IMO.

I would not like paving slabs or bushes - I would fall over them - or reverse into them !!!   

Spray painted cross or a number can be easily maintained on the grass in open areas - and maybe on the edges little wooden number marker etc

I also like when a sites colour zone areas or use character names for the zone. Just makes it easier to find your pitch when new to the site and fun for the children !!!

right you want something that defines the pitch but not something like a hedge, in case two families want to pitch together??

then I think the grass paint or maybe the better idea is theis the gravel ditch suggested above. I don;t think the slab would work unless you have something else as well.

a little trench cut into grass about 2 inch wide 2 inch deep and filled with small gravel and it also helps with drainage too,do this into a square the size of pitch and one paving slab in midle with number on, they do it at Vale of Pickering i think.

Agree about gravel getting kicked everywhere..

If full,square slabs aren't very appealing,what about defining the pitch with a small block paver,cut into the turf at each corner?(..maybe placed length-ways and painted white)..
