The only campsites I have really been bothered by Midges are Glencoe and Oban CCC, probably because the first is sheltered by the mountains and the second because it sits inside a walled garden.
Bunree and sites like that, that are on the coast, will get sea breezes and these will keep Midges at bay.
Neither Midges nor Mosquitos bother Mrs Lobey at all, but both bring me out in 50p sized lumps. But neither would stop me holidaying in either Scotland nor Spain and they should not stop you either.
But do yourself a favour and if you are going to holiday in either of these countries, take a repellent that is apropriate for the job. IE Midge repellent for Midges and Mosquito Repellent for Mosquitos.
