Perhaps you should try one of those sites that have areas set aside for adults only. Then you can argue the issue with the campsite owner as to whether he is going to charge you adult rates for your 16 year old and let you use the adult only section, or whether he is going to insist on you using the general section and charge you the childs rate

After looking at the prices of some of the sites with adult sections, it appears that it's the same price for an adult as a child up to 16/17, so as we said it's not the price.

I am in exactly the same situation. Why can't you be on an adult only site if your teenager is being charged as an adult?
When my kids were little they were never allowed to be noisy. I now get really fed up with inconsiderate people who allow their young children to be up, running around and screaming as soon as it is light. It is my holiday too and I don't want to be woken up before 6am!
So far my policy has been to book sites with no playground. As we also tent camp, I have found sites without EHU discourages families too. Also, never go on August BH weekend!
