Hey! Yes unfortunately (for the driver which wont be me as I am not insured on the 'big' car), I am set on Cornwall. LOVE it there and to be honest after Sept/Honeymoon I don't think we will be going on any hol for a couple of years due to money and stuff, I really love cornwall :)

Chy Carne I think guys, going to search for posts about it now x

Hi tressls

Anything that you would like to know about chy carne, just ask me :o) and i shall try to answer any questions that you may have :o)

On-site we have swings and a pirate ship for the kids, outdoor football table, pool table and table tennis, we also have an indoor games room with some arcade machines in.

Our onsite catering unit will be open as will our pizza takeaway, we also have a fully licenced onsite shop.

On the 23rd Aug we will have Captain Coconut for the kids in the evening followed by zamba band in our purpose built marquee, our bar will be open serving local real ales and cornish cider. :o)

Many pitches have wonderful sea views over Kennack Bay, the beach is just a 8 minute walk away, sandy with rockpools etc it is also lifeguarded and has 2 cafes and toliets, the walk back is up hill (but we are in Cornwall not Norfolk) and is a fairly easy walk for anybody.

Our toilet/shower block has been updated for this season and we also have a brand new shower block that (fingers crossed) should be open next week.

The lizard is a great place for a beach holiday, Kennack Sands is the closest beach but Kynance Cove (just a 10 minute car ride away) is our favorite place in Cornwall, stunning.

Like I said any questions just ask.

Cheers

Darran

Hi there!

Well to be honest it's only 4 nights ( long way for 4 nights I know but still!), and we need to save after the wedding we will be broke (will have been married a whole 2 days when we come!), and before the 'proper' Honeymoon, so just want to have the best time possible on as little money as possible (we are great for wasting £100s on holiday!). I am hoping the weather will be nice (been lucky EVERY time we have camped but I know british weather!)... hoping to have a chimnea going, maybe have picnics and BBQs or whatever.

The marquee look a good idea- any more info about that- do you just take your own beer in, sit down etc? The kids will be happy of the entertainment on the week we go I am sure.

I have been to Mullion a few times- when younger (ah family memories) and again in 2003. Benn to Kynance Cove both occasions, and Mullion Cove when I was younger- we must be talking almost 20 yrs but there was a local school having their sports day at the cove and cooking BBQd burgers which they offered us- lovely memories. Did Trevornick nr Newquay in June 09 and LOVED it (off season), I love the sea so waking up to it daily will be nice I hope!

Just hoping for a flat pitch, have requested for when I book tomorrow afternoon.

Anything else in the local area that won;t cost the earth? Done Lands End last time so not botered about that again. I love quaint and weird little places- once found a gnome farm in North Devon which amused the hell out of us at the time (in 2007)... hehe!!!

Looking forward to it just on a shoestring so going to make the best of it.

x

the marquee is 125sqm and can seat around 150+ people, you are welcome to bring your own drinks in :)

Roskillys ice-cream factory is worth a visit (if only to sample the lovely ice-cream, gooseberry is my favorite), lizard point is worth a visit, nice walk along the coast path (2 mins from the site entrance) to cadgwith, where if you time it right you can watch the fishing boats coming in, cornish camels is just up the road and is free (although i have never been).

and as we have no light polution onsite, and the lizard is the 2nd best spot in the country for star gazing, you cant beat sat around a fire watching the many shooting stars :)

I'm only 9 this year by the way :-)

We're at Glove Vale too, but we leave on the 19th.  I'm sure you will enjoy Globe Vale.  This is our third year.

DSB....what do you recommend we do. 2 adults and two boys both 12 yo.

I was thinking of body boarding at a surf school and eden project for starters but am not sure after that? Any suggestions welcome?

There's Flambards at Helston and Eden.  Depends what they are into really.  You'll probably find several body boarding/ surf places.  Newquay is the surf place (I think, but I expect you'll get some one at Perranporth or even Porthtowan.  I have in the back of my mind that Praa Sands might be good for that sort of thing too.

Might they be interested in the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek?  Dr Who Exhibition at Land's End?  They might even like to go to St Michael's Mount.  If they are into history/castles then there are lots of places - St Mawes Castle (Take the King Harry Ferry) and one opposite on the Falmouth headland (just can't remember name).  Roskilly's Ice Cream factory and Cornish Camels (both free and near the Lizard).  Healey's Cider Farm (they might not be into that yet - but you might! )

Plenty of walking to be done.  Small cinema in Redruth, if they haven't yet seen the last Harry Potter.  Port Isaac (where they filmed Doc Martin) is a bit of a drive.

Not really sure about this, but Globe Vale isnear the coast to coast path - I think you can hire cycles to cycle it.

Pasties available from Philips in Hayle (you may need to pre-order at busy times, but well worth it - we'd ring up during the day or pop in and pay and ask for them to be ready at about 4.30-5pm ready to take back for tea - the big ones are really big - I bet the lads would like them), also Ann's Pasties at Lizard.

Hope this might give some ideas - just the first things that came into my head - there are other things too.

Thanks David. Forgot to mention that we are also members of National Trust. Does that change anything you said?

Sorry for the delay in posting, been out tonight.

Headland overlooking Godrevy Lighthouse in N.T as is St Michael's Mount, I think.  Lizard Point car park and Kynance Cove car park are both N.T., but quite a walk down to Kynance from the car park.

If you go up to Eden, close by is Lanhydrock (? sp.?) also N.T.

Unfortunately St Mawes castle and the one on the Falmouth headland (name escapes me) are both English Heritage.

There are probably more N.T. places - have a look in the handbook.

Best wishes
