We experienced a problem a few weeks ago, we pitched out tent, and several other people pitched there tents, we were all chatting, had a nice early evening meal, about 7pm a car pulled up, with a couple in they pitched there tent, didnt talk to any of us, put on some music, and stated a BBQ at about 9pm. Then at 9.30pm another car arrived (dark by this time) and they left the car running, with the headlights on, while they put up there tent. Well it was then 10.30ish and they were having the BBQ with the other people then (friends) 11.45pm washing pots, and still very loud at 2am. In the morning the owners had 3 complaints as well as ours about these people, and all they said was that it was not them.

Well the owners said they had spoken to them, and told them that on the Sat night they would be doing a inspection to make sure there was not a repeat of the Friday night. Well Sat night came, and they started again, until the owners put a stop to it at 11.30pm. As you can guess we were not happy at all. The owners did offer us free nights, on our next stay. They have also said they will not allow these people to stay again.

This is why I never book, and never pay for more than one night at a time. Any hassle and I'm off. Had a couple with a radio on in the daytime, massive field but they pitched right next to us. I abondoned my plan to cook a leisurely lunch and just went home.

Yes....the hearding instict......seen it plenty of times in the past when we used to have unmarked pitches. One minute an empty field, next you get 4 tents book in (all independant of each other), and they all "heard" into a corner, leaving 99% field empty.

And then the car parking.......you can actually leave a car well away from all the other cars (so you don't get dented door panels) at your local Tescos.......you come back to your car and find it "surrounded"......plus nice new dents! Arrraaghhhh!

hi andy 75

im a newbe camper and havent heard this 6m rule before but as we take our dog with us we tend to pitch away from other tents not to be anti social but so the dog can relax in peace with us but we always get some tit pitching right next to us as said the herding effect.

i think this rule should be displyed at different locations around the site and i wouldnt dream of pitching after 21.00 oclock just out of respect for fellow campers.

This happened to me at the beginning of May - I was staying on site an extra couple of days after the the bank holiday, everyone else went home on the Monday and I was left with that section of the site all to myself. Went out for the day and got back to find a line of four tents and a gazebo plus various cars, all pitched right next to me, with the rest of the field completely empty!

I'm totally the opposite and prefer to pitch in a quiet corner away from everyone else if I can - not because I'm anti-social, far from it, I'll chat to anyone on site and often do, but I do like my own space and it's better for my dogs too.
