morning baydreamer, it takes me four to five hours to get to Arisaig depending on the traffic and its a joy, the scenary is fantastic, i have actually driven up for the day just to spend a few hours with visiting family members just to show them how fab it is. I took my sister up this summer and it reduced her to tears, its a magic place and in my opinion worth the drive.

i always go to silversands, its basic, toilet, shower block leccy hookups and the best bit, you are right next to the beach, infact you couldnt get any closer.  Cathy (the owner) is really relaxed when it comes to lighting fires on the beach and bbq"s, however, she doesnt tolerate excesive noise past midnight. ( i have seen here evict people who have abused this.)

there are a few other sites you can try, cant remember there names but if you google Arisaig campsites they should all come up.

If you are planning to stay for a few weeks i think its worth the long drive you can stop  over at Loch Lomand for the night and split your journey.

Have you been to Scotland before.?

the photo on my profile is the view from one part of the site, if you are lucky enough to get a pitch that would be your view........ fantastic.

I cant wait to experiance it from staying in my wee caravan as i normally camp. The photo on my profile believe it or not was take in October this year.

Summer is a long way off but i do hope you have a nice holiday wherever you decide to go.

Geraldine

lolarose 19,  the view in the gallery was fantastic.  We planning on doing Skye & Oban this year.  Would it be possible to drive to Arisiag for a few days as well?  Will do some research but always good to have 1st hand recommendations & ideas.

it would be best to visit Oban first, i use to work there at a hotel called the Manor House Hotel, its a lovely place to stay, however if you want a really nice meal you would love it. Spend a few days there as there is lots to do, then make your way north to Fort William, then head west to Arisaig.

You can get the ferry to Skye from Mallaig and you can then decide where you want to visit on the island. You can then leave Skye going over the Skye Bridge which will take you on a differant rout back to Fort William.

Let me know if there is anything in particular that you would like to know about and i will do my best to give you my opinion.

Geraldine

FNOT, i see you have a wee westie.... my brother has one, hes been trying to find a wee male partner for her as he wants her to have pups. they are fab dogs, i have a mad springer spanial named Ellie shes a handfull but a joy, dont know what i would do without her in my life. She loves Arisaig, the site that i go to is quite relaxed with dogs, els runs about on the beaches and rocks all day.

It normally takes her a few days constand running around before she gets such sore paws that she can hardly walk...bless her.

I do hope you can stop of in some of the camp sites just outside the wee village of Arisaig as its so beautifull, what time of the year are you heading up this way.?
