I was wondering about Trevaunance Cove, St Agnes. It looks as if there are a couple of car parks near to the beach. Never been there and write ups seem good. I guess you need to get there at 7am in order to get a parking space?

Another good bet seems to be Kennack Sands East. We have always been to Kennack Sands West (non-dog) ans very close to a seemingly ever extendable car park - we have always got parked here. Never been to the East Beach but it means a bit of a walk.

Does anyone know how easy it is to access Peter's Point Beach at Hayle? Car Park seems very close, but write ups say access is difficult.

Now this sounds a silly question, but what does no dogs on the beach actually mean? What happens if access to a doggy-beach is via a no-dog beach? Are you allowed to carry the dog accross a no-dog beach or do you have to clamber down the cliffs??

We've done it.  Bit up hill and down dale over the coastal path.  Path is narrow & muddy in parts so would imagine after rain would be difficult.  Beach is nice once you have accessed it over big pebbles.  However, I'm not exactly a fitness freak and I managed it in Summer (hot) weather.  Although I would not recommend for the infirm.

We went early in the morning, beach deserted.  Path is narrow so we met a lot of dog owners on their way on our way back to the car!

If you go to Woolacoombe beach the first part to the right is no dogs,the first part to the left is dogs but on a lead and if you go further left past a big rock on the beach you can let your dog loose.

Weston has the very top part of the beach off the promenade for dogs.

 Dawlish Warren in Devon  and Wells in Norfolk have  footpaths in the dunes you have to stick to to get to the doggy parts so there is usually decent access although some have a fair walk to most of them.

Our favourite in Cornwall is Mawgan Porth followed by Treyarnan which is nearer to the site we use in the summer.

Hi david,
Access to Gwithian beach is from the carpark. To get to Peters Point you need to walk along the coastal path towards Hayle until you reach the next lifeguard hut. There is a set of wooden steps dug into the cliff that meander down to the beach. It is a little disconcerting at first but they are quite safe to use to get down to the beach.
In response to you other question, The steps that I mention at Peters Point where not accessable a couple of years ago due to a slight subsidence at the bottom. I accessed the beach at Gwithian and was approached by a dog warden who chatted with me for about ten minutes. He just asked me to keep my dog on the lead until I had got to the dog friendly section.

David just noticed you are in Looe in July/Aug, as far as i remember dogs are not allowed on East Looe beach which is the one through the town centre.

Don't know about west Looe as the last time we were round that side we didn't have a dog.

Someone else suggested that there were possibilities for doggie beaches in the Looe area. I will have to look it up.
