They're generally the type of site that's a field though, surely there's plenty of room for balls, bikes and other people. Good old fashioned camping! I do have a problem when families are always condemned for letting their children be children!

Some of these sites are big enough for ball games and bike riding without problems and some are not. Actually the worst problem we had was on a small commercial site which I believe is now adults only.

Can I just eat a few of my words and say if the family off 15 kids and counting now on channel 4+1 pitched up next to me i'd be off before they'd got their tents up! They need a field with NO neighbours!

I now always use cs or temporary holiday sites normally they are less busy with less children due to less facilities, maybe it is my imagination but I am sure the parents control their children (when they have to) better on these sites or maybe the fact there are not so many children they are less likely to encourage each other into trouble.
But as Ratty says if you want to be sure of no children there are plenty of adult only sites, probably the only improvement I have seen in over 45 years of camping is the vast variety of sites that now cater for whatever type of holiday a camper may want

Well, we use the CSs with sprod in tow, no problems.  Always seen well behaved kids on these sites and put it down to the fact as the sites are not promoted as having ( we will keep your child amused while you ignore them, extras )  then they tend to get the parents that expect to play with and entertain the children themselves.

Quality family time, as It should be.

I have always taken my children to CLs and CSs.  It was the only holiday we could afford when the older two were young.  Have to admit they were holidays we all enjoyed too.  Though ours have never been the football playing type.  It was a base for our holiday.  Went out for days, came back, had BBQ, then played cards in the awning.  Now, its just me and and my youngest, we go camping to nice quiet CS's and she loves the peace as much as I do when we settle down in our tent to read books.  I hope there are always places like this we can go, there are too many good quiet sites changing to adults only.

Just like others have said - these CLs etc are for families as well unless otherwise stated. We have four kids (three of them grown up and left home now!) but never had a problem with them when camping as they knew how to behave on a campsite. A couple of years ago we were in France and a school party of about 20 kids turned up to stop in their own tents. Very well behaved and well organised by their teachers and a credit to their parents.

Haven't got a problem with kids on 5 van sites, why, we take two of our own. Had a problem once on a cs where the parents of really small children decided that they would take along some old 12" vinyl records for them to fling about Some people are just beyond help I'm afraid, why would you think that was a good idea to keep the kids entertained? The parents did get told by us, but later on they were back at it, and after some more words we just moved further down the large (luckily for us) field. Imagine the damaged that could have been caused if one of the records had struck the van

Have used CL's with our two and had no problems from others but we expect ours to know how to behave. Lazy parenting often results in bored children getting themselves into trouble IMO - kids should only be given the freedom to be kids once they understand a few basics of how to behave IMO aswell

I probably have more of an issue with those closed away in their vans/ m-homes with  TV's blaring away in the evening or sitting in awnings late at night talking loudly. Noise carries on quiet sites from everyone, not just kids...........

As others have said there are many CL's that are adults only at that gives those the option who don't want kids around to stay there

I did feel sorry for the parents, dad wanted to do something good for the family by taking them away on holiday. Mum looked not a million miles away from a breakdown. Think they could do with a bit of a help with all the kids, don't know if I could having 7 kids of my own then take in 3 of my sisters too.

I think CL's are fine if the family know what they are getting and are happy with that no play area, pool etc (though there are the odd ones with pools).

We have been on C.L sites where children have looked really miserable and fed up.

Problems can arise if the kids get bored. I know ours when they were young loved the sites with play parks/areas as it was there that they met lots of holiday friends, sometimes it was a job to drag them away for a day out.

We have only used one CS, but been several times & as above, we've found that most parents spend time with their children. We enjoy spending more quality time with our daughter but are pleased if another family turn up.

We are only a small site and find that the families we get want a more relaxed break. We do not have large facilities to amuse teenagers so they tend to go to bigger sites nearer towns etc.
