Great response to my thread thankyou, the main reason for this was to help those who realise there are no reviews and then read the threads about it,and choose otherwise not to go. They have such a good following I think they dont need to rely on reviews as so many keep going back.Well we will certainly be going back once this weather sorts itself out.

This is the problem...we booked a site for whit week..looked at the reviews on here and all where good.but after talking to people on here some where saying they wouldnt go again....we eventually decided to go and what a fantastic site it was.....what is good for one camper stands a chance that another wont like it ...we all have different likes and dislikes..so it is better trying it out for yourself ...

Well, on the strength of this thread I've just booked 4 nights for me and the kids, hope it's ok. To be fair mrs DM isn't coming with us and she's the one that moans, we just get on with having a good time wherever we are.

I must admit to reading reviews with a huge pinch of salt as we all have different needs.  I put less weight to reviews from those visiting with a caravan as we have a small campervan and want to walk to places.  Tents/Trailer tents have a different set of needs.

Then there are peoples expectations which vary wildly.  Some think a small campsite will be all singing all dancing.  Others are disappointed if they can't pick up satellite tv,.  One review somewhere on here mentioned that "the sea was too loud" - made me laugh and nothing anyone can do.

Our needs - flat pitches, somewhere to walk to is good (if we know we are remote we go prepared) and if we are going for several days we like to park the van then use public transport, walk or the bikes.  Electric for a few days or in colder weather.

There are sites we will never revisit as they are more suitable for people using a car for days out etc.  Nothing wrong with them just not for us.

Others dont like the toilet blocks at racecourses but we love those sites for walking etc (the toilet blocks aren't a big thing for us to some they are)

I often look at the reviewer then look at other sites they have visited which gives a good idea of whether they are on a similar wavelength (site wise)

Happy camping -

We like different sites for different reasons. We have our favourites that we'll keep going back to but I'll willingly try anywhere once. Facilities wise this place seems to fit the bill for this trip and if I'm honest the price is a big factor, especially at this time of year.

lol Spot on, I was thinking exactly the same whilst reading reviews for our up and coming camping trip this summer. Some reasons for potentially marking down a campsite are laughable but I suppose someone's expections are different to the next persons. Most reviews should be taken with a pinch of salt unless there's a common fault happening time and time again.

I think that as someone said on this thread reviews will be according to what the individual has experienced. For example we were on a large site last weekend and had the worst experience on Saturday that we have ever had in 10 years because of who was pitched by us. However 2 other reviewers of the same site who obviously pitched the same time as us had a great time as they were pitched in a different field.I agree with Nu campers, I read reviews closely and only worry if the same flaw is mentioned more than once. We all have different things we like and the reviews help us choose a site that seems closest to our needs.

Back from our 4 nighter. It's a bit rough around the edges and the facilities could take a touch of modernising but I, and the kids, like the place. Some of the other threads mention it's quite noisy at night, they're right but you've got to expect that on a family site in August. Not one for the "complete silence after 10 pm" brigade but was pretty much silent by midnight.

We're already talking about going back first weekend in September.

Rachieb, When nwe were there in June (whitsun week) The  fitness room was closed as they were modernising it, so instead i went for a run everyday, there is a lovely walk just outside the site and  it's  not very long and takes you round  from the main entrance to the private lane round the other side of thesite. x
